SOURCE: remove the seat

The two rear corners of the riders seat can be pulled back, you will find two allen head screws, simply remove them and the seat can be removed exposing the battery.

SOURCE: Yamaha Virago XV700 - 1987 Seat Removal

Most Yamaha models have 2 bolts holding the seat on, usually located between the top shock mounts and the side covers. You should be able to find them without too much trouble, but remember- they are metric. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Removal of factory seat on Yamaha Royal star 1300

Hi, It opens with your key on the right side as looking from the front of the bike. Keep the key turned and pull straight up on the back of the seat. There is a tab on the front right behind the tank, so when you are putting it back make sure that tab goes into the slot first. Wow, when you get the seat off you will also find your emergency tool bag! I have royal star tour classic #41. Good Luck!

SOURCE: how do i remove the magneto flywheel from a yamaha

You will need a flywheel puller, ( dealer can sell you one > low cost ), and a hammer.
Remove the nut and washer holding the flywheel. Now screw the puller into the flywheel as far as it will easily go. Be sure to back off the pullers' center screw when mounting puller. Tighten the center screw REALLY tight then firmly strike the center of the puller screw with a medium size hammer. Alternate tightening the center screw and striking with the hammer. To tighten the center screw you will want to strike the screw handel with medium hammer force. A few blows with the hammer should pop the flywheel.
