OK... You need 2 things to make a light work, power and ground. So if you have power then it doesn't have a ground. Try a jumper wire connected to the frame and the ground terminal of the headlight socket.

Check bulb. If power is going to socket then the bulb must be faulty. There may be rust on terminals inside socket.

SOURCE: changing headlight

Had a similar problem on mine when I installed the cobra light bar. If you remove the headlight from the housing there is a connector (think it was orange) with a single wire. It is the starter-light cutout. my connector shorted out so I had to cut it and replace it. No headlight problems since. It is worth checking, I had to pay $50 to have the Honda shop find it. Good luck & ride safe!

SOURCE: head light not working found

check the bulb with a meter, they can appear to look good and aren't,, are both the low and high beams out? I'd need a little more info like the make and model of your bike to give you solutions

SOURCE: i replaced start/kill switch switch

The ignition switch also powers the other components: the dash and the lights. When you have replaced it you have inadvertently pulled on a wire and the contact got loose. To locate the bad contact you will need to identify the power wire that goes from the ignition switch to the lights switch on the handlebar - follow it and test all it contacts.

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO FIX THE PASSANGER'S SIDE FOG LIGHT, AFTER TRYING TO REPLACE THE BULB, AND STILL NOT WORKING?

What is the condition of the bulb socket? Contacts show signs of corrosion or overheating? Use a meter to find out if it's missing the 12 volts to the bulb or if the ground is missing (open/high resistance). With the fog lamps powered on, connect the black meter lead to a good solid ground on the body of the car. Touch the red meter lead to each contact in the socket which the bulb plugs into. One of the contacts should measure about 12 volts. If no 12 volts then you will need to check fuses and wiring to find the open circuit causing the no voltage situation. If you measure 12 volts, then you know you have power to the bulb. The problem will then be with the ground. Turn off the fog lamps, set the meter to measure resistance (ohms). Leave the black meter lead connected where it was. Connect the red meter lead to the contact in the bulb socket that you did NOT measure the 12 volts at. The meter should read no/low/minimal resistance. If you measure high resistance, then you will need to locate the corrosion or open/broken wire between the bulb connector and grounding point on the car. Good luck!

No power to right side (PS) headlight low beam plug socket, new bulb, fuse is good. High beam works, blinker works, park light works. just no low beam and doesn't register any voltage on volt meter.

check low beam fuse when switched on if it has voltage registering across the fuse ,if there is voltage across the low beam RHS fuse then it is possibly a pinched wire from the headlight running back towards inside of the car

Light doesn't go off and microwave doesn't work

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

  1. Inspect the power cordUnplug the power cord and check for voltage at the outlet. Also inspect for damage, shorts, or burn marks that can be a possible safety hazard.
  2. Bad door switchIf your microwave does not work at all and you know everything is plugged in properly and the outlet is functioning, then also check the door hooks and the door release button. Using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check your terminals. When your microwave door is closed you should have a reading of zero. Once the door is open the reading should change to infinity. If these readings do not match up, replacement of the door switch is necessary.
  3. Blown fusesTo determine if your fuse has blown out, which may attribute to your microwave not running, you need to pull the fuse out using a pair of fuse pullers. Lay it down and using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check both ends of the fuse in question. If you do not get a reading of zero, then you will need to replace the fuse.
  4. Bad fan motorLocate the fan and remove the leads. Again using the volt-ohm meter on RX1, check the terminals. If an infinity reading is displayed, it means that the fan has gone bad and requires replacement.

  1. Light bulbIf your microwave light bulb is not working, perhaps it has blown. The first step is to replace the bulb and power on the microwave. If this does not correct the issue, the next step is to check the socket and wiring to verify if that is the problem.
  2. Light bulb socket & main control boardIf your microwave light bulb is not working after the installation of a new bulb, check the light socket as well as the wiring to ensure they are properly operating. If these sources are functioning properly, the next step is to check for a faulty control board as a possible root cause to your microwave light bulb malfunction.

Side marker front lights fuse

People that answer these questions have no more
material than you do,everyone is at home & uses
the site the same

I suggest you just check all the fuses, don't take long
to remove them or leave them in place & put your volt
meter to ground & probe either side of all fuses,of coarse
each system has to be turned on if it isn't powered all the time

To have a fuse blow more than 5 times in 50 years is a lot,
so the odds are that you don't have a fuse issue

When you have electrical issues you need factory wiring
diagrams, personally I buy them as soon as I get every vehicle

I see on this site people say they change all bulbs, fuses, relays
etc
Why would anyone do that? If you remove a lamp or bulb & it is
good you move on to the next check or test !

If you have a bulb out & the switch on, why even check a fuse,
meter the socket while the bulb is out, to see if you have battery
voltage before you fault a fuse

Horn doesn't work, revrese lights won't come on, and 2 of the 3 break lights won't come on on 1995 Geo Tracker. Fuses are good and bulbs are good.

for how long, 1 day, 1 year , 1 decade? is it a daily driver
or a barn stored, winter car.?

the real question,is there 12v exiting the fuse, the acid test. that.
any volt meter does that in 5min flat.
3rd brake light is bad bulb or corroded socket.
what tranny< 3,4,5,sp.? but in each case it takes a good rev.
switch, if 12v enters said switch and does not exit, its bad.
0v bad,6v rev. path shorted to ground,12v good.
btw, all clamps can short, try 1 new one. in each path all by lonesome. dig?
bulbs good means what.
1: look good.
2: glow when placed on a 12v battery
3:measure 0 ohms with meter (means good or shorted.
4: or they are new and assumed good, (p/n ? what is the p/n?)
'
head lamps good.? parking lamps, blinker, are all other lamps working. does car start?

Driver side low beam headlamp out. replaced bulb--no go. checked fuse-fuse ok.

Remove the new lamp

Put a volt meter black lead to the engine
for a good ground or battery grd post

Then turn on the light & probe the lamp socket
one or two wires should read battery volts &
most likely the balck wire is ground & won't drop
any voltage

If good there or compared to other light connector
go after a broken or open ground wire

Tag light is not working. is there a fuse that will get the light turned back on?

The fuse labeled REAR PARK LP 15A in the right instrument panel fuse box powers the rear park lamps, and the tag lamps. If your rear park lamps are working then you most likely need to replace the tag lamps (bulbs). Use the following procedure to replace the lamps.

To Remove:
  1. Remove the two mounting screws from the license plate lamp.
  2. Remove the license plate lamp from the rear bumper fascia.
  3. Remove the license plate lamp socket by turning it counterclockwise.
To Install:
  1. Install the license plate lamp socket by turning it clockwise.
  2. Position the license plate lamp to the rear bumper fascia.
  3. Install the license plate lamp mounting screws.

I have no brake lights. i check fuses they are good. i change the lite bulbs. What else can i check?

Use a volt meter to verify power is leaving the fuse, check for power at bulb sockets, if no power then there is a open in the circuit, you'll beed to troubleshoot, start at the fuse and work youe way back towards the socket. When checking the socket, use the socket batt & gnd, then the socket batt & body gnd.

Nikon Optiphot-2

You should start by changing the bulb, even though it looks ok chances are that it's no longer working. Do the same with the fuse if the new bulb doesn't work.

Test that power is reaching the socket with a voltmeter or a multimeter so ensure the wiring is ok with the new fuse. If no power is reaching the bulb socket, then you will need to check the wiring every step of the way.
