Check your chain and sprockets, sometimes the chain wears the sprocket out, "curving" the teeth so it hooks the chain. You probably have the ticking in lower gears as well, but it only hooks the chain at speed - and in 6th the engine revs are lower, the engine is quieter, so you hear the chain easier.

What causes a decelleration vibration on 2008 vstar 1300

There are several potential causes of deceleration vibration on a 2008 Yamaha V Star 1300 motorcycle. Some possible causes include:
  1. Worn or damaged engine or transmission components: Vibrations during deceleration can sometimes be caused by worn or damaged engine or transmission components, such as the crankshaft, connecting rods, or gears.
  2. Imbalanced wheels or tires: If the wheels or tires on the motorcycle are not properly balanced, it can cause vibrations when the bike is decelerating.
  3. Loose or damaged suspension components: If the suspension components, such as the fork or shock absorbers, are loose or damaged, it can cause vibrations when the bike is decelerating.
  4. Faulty brakes: If the brakes are not functioning properly, it can cause vibrations when the bike is decelerating.
It is important to diagnose and address the specific cause of the vibration, as ignoring the issue could lead to further damage to the motorcycle. It is recommended to have the motorcycle inspected by a qualified mechanic to determine the cause of the vibration and make any necessary repairs.

Out riding today on my 2014 triumph Bonneville t100 out of nowhere a loud ticking sound coming from cam cover area. Increases with throttle and stops on deceleration. Any ideas?

Valve gear generally does not produce load sensitive noises - because the load on these components do not vary in normal use.

A load dependent noise is usually produced by a component that is subjected to varying loads - piston, piston rings, connecting rod bearings, etc.

I suggest you treat yourself to a mechanics stethoscope or sonascope in order to more closely listen to your engine and attempt to pinpoint the source of the ticking noise.

Gearbox whine, 6th gear 4000Rpm 105km/p. Noise only auditable when engine under load. Noise gone when clutch disengaged or going down hill, no load on engine. Regards Raymond

Well that is a good one. It is most likely the main shaft bearing as 6th gear is direct. I remember many years ago, most vehicles had a noisy gearboxes. I don't think, as long as the gearbox has the correct oil in it, much harm will come to it. So on balance, yes it can be perfect but at what cost.
I will leave that one with you.

Oscillating vibration around 60-70 mph in 6th gear

sounds like a cv joint to me. That is what usually occurs when one is showing wear. C.V joints usually wear out between 80,000 and 120,000 k.m.
