If its carbureted- check fuel delivery on that cylinder- I had same issue on a 2 cyl Vulcan. it was dirty carb- restricted passages.

SOURCE: when idling, there is a sputtering

If you have a fuel injected model , you will have to put a power commander on. If you already have a power commander , you should plug your bike into your computer and try some different maps to see if you can correct the problem. If you are dealing with carburetors, try resyncing the carburetors, replacing the exhaust gaskets in the heads , new spark plugs , and new spark plug CAPS.

My 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo kind of spits and sputters while driving. What could be the problem?

There are several potential issues that could be causing your 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo to spit and sputter while driving. Here are a few possibilities:
  1. Fuel delivery issues: If your engine is not receiving the correct amount of fuel or air, it can cause hesitation or rough idling. This could be due to a clogged fuel filter, a malfunctioning fuel pump, or a problem with the air intake system.
  2. Ignition system issues: A faulty spark plug, ignition coil, or other component of the ignition system can cause misfires, which can make the engine hesitate or sputter.
  3. Emissions system issues: Your vehicle's emissions system is designed to reduce harmful pollutants in the exhaust. A malfunctioning component of this system, such as the oxygen sensor, can cause the engine to run poorly.
  4. Electrical issues: A damaged or worn electrical component, such as a sensor or relay, can cause the engine to run rough or stall.
  5. Transmission issues: If your vehicle is experiencing transmission problems, such as slipping or shifting issues, it can cause the engine to hesitate or sputter.
To determine the exact cause of the problem, it's best to have your vehicle diagnosed by a certified mechanic. They can perform a diagnostic scan to check for any error codes or issues with the engine, transmission, or emissions system.

Put new spark plugs and gas filter on 99 kia sportage, now spits and sputters way worse now , wtf.??

fuel filter may be on backwards, restricting fuel flow, if not that check that the spark plug wires are on in correct firing order, as well as the spark plug gap. (spark plugs are not always gapped for the particular application from the factory due to the multiple array of applications a particular plug can be used for)

2004 grand cherokee 4.0l one day it will run fine the next day it runs rough rich and when i step on the gas the engine cuts out and spits and sputters

When the "spits and sputters" happen are you in low rpm? Can you "by-pass" the sputtering by accelerating? Has your gas mileage suffered?

05 jetta 2.5, what are some problems you get if the timing belt is bad

If it is bad? I don't think it go's bad. It will break then it wont start. When you try to start it the engine turns over very fast. If it jumps a tooth on timing then it will spit and sputter. Backfiring either in the throttle body or exaust. Or both.

After driving about 3 to 5 mile when there has been alot of rain the engine starts running real rough spitting and sputtering--if you floor it it takes off as long as you keep it floored--doesn`t stall...

Engine light could be from the spitting and sputtering, sounds to me like maybe bad spark plug wires, possible an ecm issue, what kinda code is it giving you when the engine light comes on?
