Fist, Shut off the fuel at the fuel tap. Second, remove the drain screw, and drain any remaining fuel from the float bowl. Reinstall the drain screw. Third, remove the two 8mm mounting bolts from the rear of the carburetor body.
Step 4. Release the clamp, and remove the fuel line from the right side of the carburetor.
Step 5. Remove the spacer from between the carburetor and the intake pipe.

Ron, what type of valve train does this bike have? If you are running shim buckets on the cams then you can figure .002" - .004" on the intake and .006" - .008" on the exhaust. Remember the valves will tighten over time which is most likely your problem, so I would adjust on the side of looser. When you check the valves check to see what they average for clearance and you may be able to determine if you need looser or tighter adjustments that what I suggested. You also want to make sure you adjust the cam chain, that makes a huge difference in low speed performance. I'm thinking you have some very tight valves right now though.

SOURCE: kawasaki 300 bayou won't rev up.

No guarantees but try this. Pull the slide from the throat of the carb. Now move the clip on the jet needle down one notch. This will richen the low end mix. Two notches may be needed but do one notch at the start.

SOURCE: need setting for carb. adjuster on bottom of carb

Turn the adjusting screw all the way in until it LIGHTLY seats. Now back it out one and one half turns. Do the same adjustment for the throttle screw on the right side of the carb. You are now back to the stock factory settings.

Could you take a moment and rate my answer? Thanks!

If spark plug is wet with petrol then float level is incorrect either by dirt under float needle or set too high.

If you havent altered / removed the carb and it has just happened, somtimes gently tapping the float bowl can dislodge the dirt. Otherwise you will need to remove carby, (I assume it has one) and clean out.

2002 Kawasaki KLX 300 R will not start

Most likely stuck float . Disconnect the fuel line under the tank with the fuel valve turned to off. Once the line is off open the valve to see if any gas comes out. If so then follow the line to the carb. On the bottom of the carb there is a small pocket where the float bowl lives. There should be a drain plug in the bottom... remove it and see if anything comes out... hook the fuel line back up to the tank and open the valve .. If the float is stuck then no fuel will flow out of the float bowl. To clean it remove the 4 screws on the float bowl. Inside you will see a plastic or metal float... on the top is a needle valve that is supposed to move up and down freely. If not remove the wrist pin from the float.. It just pushes out but be careful it is small and easily lost. Once it is out pull gently down rotating slightly but not too rough. Once out ( make sure the fuel is off.) Clean the hole it came out of and wipe the crud off of the pin..the top of the pin will usually be made of soft rubber so do not use sand paper on the pin .. When you believe it is clean open the fuel to see if gas comes out.. If not then your going to have to do farther cleaning by removing the carb and soaking it in seafoam...... Do not use carb cleaner or you'll wreck your rubber and seals . If all goes well put the pin in the hole turn on the gas while pushing the pin up with your finger to see if any gas leaks past. If it does you will need to clean better inside the hole. If no gas turn off the fuel and reinstall the float and pin . Check to see if it moves freely.

I need to find a needle and seat for carburator.

Assume you are referring to a fuel needle valve on the carburetor Get name off of engine and/or carb. Ask Google for spare parts. If that fails, take parts to family owned outdoor equipment store. Bribe them to bring out carb rebuild kits till you find one that matches. If they are any good, they can look at the engine/carb and pull the right kit

Which setting do I use for the needle in my carb?

How many miles?? The needle jet/jet needle (brass kit) may need replacing ...they wear out due to vibration and cause the spark plugs to turn black, get poor milage, and then "carbon foul".
Try running it without the air filter for a few miles.. see if that makes it run better. If so, I would replace the air filter and put a new brass kit in the carburetor.
You can try moving the CLIP on the needle UP to the second to the top position, OR the top position..that will lean out the mixture/carburetor.

Just rebuilt carburetor for kawasaki 300 prarie and when i start it the throtle is very high, how do i adjust it

There should be a cable that runs under the carb on the left hand side of the quad, that has a black knob on it.If that has no effect, then its a possibility that your cable is too tight, needs lubing,OR you could have a vacuum leak somewhere.
Good Luck!

I have a 90 Kawasaki KLF300 Bayou 4X4 and I am having a problem with it running too rich no matter what I do. I have taken the carb apart several times, reset the mixture screw to factory setting. I have...

Hey Dave,
thought I answered this already,,,??? Classic "brass kit" symptom! >>> You need a "brass kit".. this is the needle jet and the jet needle in the center of the carb. The jet needle is the thin needle that hangs down from the center of the slide... The needle jet is the "hole" that the jet needle slides into...Remove the carb, take the bowl off, remove the main jet, the needle jet holder should be able to be gently tapped out, the needle jet is a short brasspiece,, it comes out through the hole where the slide goes,,, reinstall the NEW needle jet, needle jet holder...(it may have a groove in it for correct location). once its seated, you can reinstall the main jet..NOW >> to install a new jet needle,,, remove the slide from the carb.. remove the spring and seat from the slide that holds the needle jet in place.. NOTE which groove the clip is in on the old needle.... (should be the middle one). re install the new needle, reinstall everything else and your atv WILL run fine for a long time..This is a common problem on ATV's..

I have a 300 kawaski 4x4 atv and when i start it starts leaking fuel out of the carbuertor.

If it's the one I'm thinking of -it has a vacuum operated shutoff valve on the tank. So your leaky -read stuck- needle and seat only leak when the engine is turning over.

Pull the carb loose and roll over and remove the float bowl. drop the float pin and remove the float and needle. Find the vacuum line to the fuel valve and **** it open to flush out the needle and seat. When the fuel runs clean, put the needle and float back on and open the fuel valve again. If the upside down carbs holds back the fuel- it's fixed and you can put it back together.

How do yo adjust the air/fuel mixture on a 2002 KLX300?

Kawasaki made them that way in order to meet the California emissions controls. ie. there is one available size pilot jet, main jet and needle from Kawasaki. They are all pre-set. Many people buy a Mikuni pumper carb. I didn't. I own a machine shop so I modified the stock one. I made some mini adjustment rings for the needle and modified the main jet diameter to suit. I had to tune it until it didn't lean bog any more. Now it runs great. The mod worked for me. I was leaving to go riding the next day so getting the carb wasn't an option. Most people buy the carb and like it.

Ive just bought a 1996 klx it fires up but when revs are on it dies any help please

Sounds like your carb needs a good cleaning .
Would be a good idea to buy a carb kit, this kit contains new seals and o-rings as well as needle and seat valve
I would say that it would most likely be your needle and seat valve causing your problem but replace all with a carb kit not very expensive 25-30 bucks. Have you adjusted the valves in a while? would also be a good idea.
Hopefully this helps you out.
