I was driving my 97 Celica 2.2, cruise control on

I was driving my 97 Celica 2.2, cruise control on at 70 mph. It just dies. No sounds.. Just shut off. Now won't turn over. Its auto it I would've tried to push start it. I'm thinking a ground cane loose but hoping for someone that knows this car to tell me something easier to find. I still have power to everything except starting. No noises.. Don't hear any clicks, nothing. And if I if it's of any significance, but the check engine light isn't on when the key is in the on position. Please help.

SOURCE: 1994 Toyota Tercel Starter Problems

sounds to me that you have an igniton problem not a starter problem and or if you have or had an alarm system could be cause if u do give me feedback and i will explain but seems that your starter is fine from what u say but if you think in terms of the elemts to start a vehicle batery gives pwoer to ignition which sends to starter which gives spark etc i would check you ignition system something is causeing a short and not alowing starter to function

SOURCE: car won't start!!! & ABS Light on

Sounds like carbon build up on the contacts inside the electrical ignition switch which is not the key cylinder. Its located on the lower steering coluum if coluum shift or if you have a floor shift it will be inside the console

SOURCE: car wont start. turn key, nothing happens. lights, dash radio all work. No noise at all from trying to start engine. Wait 6 or more hours and it starts like nothing's wrong. It has done this 4 tim

When this happens, move the Gear Selector lever a bit. It has a Neutral Safety switch that may be slightly out of adjustment

Check your ground connections from the battery to the frame and from the battery to the engine block of your celica check all fuses and relays if nothing else check battery cables themselves for tightness and any corrosion

How to get Drive cycle

1. The testing has to start with the vehicle under 122 degrees F. Start the engine and idle for 2.5 minutes in Drive (auto) Neutral (MAN) A/C and rear defogger ON.

2. A/C OFF, accelerate to 55 MPH at 1/2 throttle and then 3 minutes of steady state cruise at 55 MPH.

3. Clutch engaged (MAN) no braking decelerate to 20 MPH.

4. Accelerate to 55-60 MPH at 3/4 throttle and 5 minutes of steady state cruise at 55-60 MPH.

5. Decelerate, no braking to end the drive cycle.

In some cases the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will go into a logic lock not letting the readiness monitors run. Removing the battery cables and touching the two together will normally take care of the logic lock condition.

Run away 2001 Grand Am

Brake switch is designed to shut cruise off when brake pedal applied, sounds like a defective brake switch, because when she applied the brakes it's supposed to cut power to cruise module, so either that is problem or your throttle cable had iced up and or both

Envoy 2005 XL Cruise control not working

Your dealership should have seen any underlying codes. Most Cruise controls I've worked on are used on the vehicles vacuum. that is where i would start, because on a grade your engine uses more vacuum pressure thus taking from some where else.

Speedometer reading fluctuates

IMHO, I think that the broken cable is what is causing the problems. It "confuses" the programing of the CPU or computer.
