SOURCE: 76 sportster...is clutch basket nut reverse thread???

If its the same model that my mate had years ago, then yes - its a left-hand thread. Also, watch out for the big spring behind it - the nut will catapult away from the bike as the last thread releases - hold it in a big piece of rag to undo.

SOURCE: cant break the nut for the front sprocket loose

sounds unusual,i havent come across a gsx600f yet,but i do know that some models of earlier bikes,(not necessarily suzuki)use a left hand thread on the sprocket nut,so instead of trying to loosen the nut to the left(as one normally would) try going to the right (as if to tighten it),and if it is as i suspect ,it should come undone...hope this helps

The compensating sprocket nut is indeed right hand threads. It is torqued to 150-165 foot pounds of torque and usually has Locktite 271 (red) in it. A lot of mechanics go overboard with the Loctite. I've seen the entire inside of the nut "painted" with this stuff. The book calls for "two lines" of the stuff when putting the nut back on.

The easiest way to get the nut off is with a GOOD air wrench. I bought one of those Ingersol-Rand Titanium air wrenches. I've seen nuts on so tight that I've had to use a 3/4" air wrench to get them off. If you don't want to purchase an air wrench, load the bike on a trailer and take it to a tire store. Ask them to take the nut off for you. Usually they'll do it free but they may charge you a couple of dollars. It is worth a couple of dollars to get the nut off.

When putting the bike back together, the compensator sprocket torques to 150-165 ft lbs. of torque with two lines of 271 Loctite in it. The clutch hub nut torques 60-80 ft. lbs. left handed with one line of 271 Locktite. Make sure your torque wrench will torque in the left handed direction. Not all wrenches will.
Good Luck.

SOURCE: cant undo nut

No they are not left hand thead, normal r/h thread.
make sure chain is still on bike and front sproket and then try good rattle gun. if this does not work, put bike in gear and hold on rear brake and use long breaker bar, if still no good will need to heat front sproket nut with oxy set very carefully and rattle off with rattle gun while nut is hot

SOURCE: 2001 KX 250 - Cant get the clutch hub nut loose

Sorry guys but its probably not!!! left hand theads the clutch nut is peened down on the threads dont beleive me look you eill see little lines or punch marks on the nut their is a special tool you can buy or you can make one like i did to hold the clutch hub still. You were on the right track with the impact wrench if that dont work you dont have a big enough air supply for the wrench good old elbow grease should get it i did it by hand after i had the tool. PS- you must punch the nut in a few places once reinstalled. I learned the hard way by breaking it first

Can't loosen lug nuts, broke the Extention & ratchet , tried liquid wrench, impact wrench, then a propane torch to heat lug nuts & a new Extention & cheater bar, still won't budge. Any ideas ?

You're almost at the point of just breaking the studs off. If that happens to me on a bolt, I soak it in PB Blaster, then hit it with torch, then spray it with Freeze Spray right after. Then I use a 1/2" drive ratchet, and a 4' piece of metal pipe. Worst case scenerio is you break it off and need to punch in a new stud. Another reason to use anti-seize on threads. Good luck!

Trying to get the 36 mm nut loose on axle of a 2001 Oldsmobile alero. Why won't it come loose

Its put on with a 3/4in drive impact gun, so you would need an impact gun to get it off. Generally two or three times the torque used on lug nuts.
You may be able to block the wheels and use a cheater pipe on a long breaker bar but its not easy.

99 sable crank pully nut

It's a bolt, and if left hand threads, it will be the first time I have heard of such. No pin would be through the threads. Try the breaker bar or impact gun the other way. If engine tries to turn, pull the starter and wedge a block of wood against the ring gear teeth on the flywheel.
Don't know about sables, but thought all crank bolts were regular threads.

Removal motorsprocket

I'm going to assume that you are talking about how to remove the engine sprocket from the sprocket shaft in the primary cover.

First, disconnect the battery and drain the primary. Look underneath the primary and loosen the locknut for the primary chain adjuster and loosen the primary chain by turning the screw outwards a few turns.

Then take the derby cover off the primary and remove the spring and locknut for the clutch adjustment. Remove the screws from around the primary and break it loose from the engine. Turn the clutch adjustment screw clockwise while removing the primary cover. Lay the primary cover aside.

Now, there is a plate in the center of the clutch assembly held in with a circlip. Remove the circlip. Now you'll need either an air wrench or a locking bar to lock the primary to prevent it from turning so you can get the clutch hub nut and the engine sprocket nut off. The engine nut has right hand threads and comes off normally. The clutch hub nut has LEFT HANDED THREADS and you must turn it in reverse. Once you get the two nuts off, you can usually grab the engine sprocket and the clutch assembly and lift those two units and the chain off at once. Sometimes you may need a puller to get the engine sprocket off but usually it just comes right off.

Installation is the reverse with the engine nut being torques to 150 foot pounds and the clutch hub nut torqued to 60 foot pounds left handed.

Good Luck

1996 Jeep axle nut. Will a 1/2 electric impact wrench do it?I have broke a ratchet a drive bar with a three foot breaker and have soaked it for days with oil. This is not a reverse thread?

Before you try and get the nut off,go and get a spare replacement wheel stud.Don't use a ratchet because they are not strong enough. If you use an impact gun, tighten it first and then ondo it.Other than that, use an impact gun socket,a long handled breaker bar to suit the socket and get into it.Good luck

I WAS TRYING TO REPLACE THE REAR TRAILING ARMS UNDER the strut i got the nut off but cannot even loosen the other bolt i used propane heat but no luck

Please no not use heat in that area - safety. If not impact wrench then
grind off just to the threads. This will releave most presure and can be removed. But do not damage the stud threads. Use a pipe extender cheater bar to help unscrew nut. Good luck

1996 Isuzu Trooper Crankshaft bolt is impossible to turn

"Heat" and air impact is the trick. Get it as hot as you can and hit it with air impact. Be careful not to burn yourself!

I hope this helps you, and I wish you luck with your repair.

Cant get my axel off

If you are referring to the axle nut on the end of the axle shaft, you may need an impact wrench, or make sure to bend the nut back (straighten out the bent section), put the car on the ground with the wheel on, and use a breaker bar, with a 3 foot piece of pipe attached (cheater bar) to loosen it. REMEMBER - some of these are reverse thread, if so you will have to go clockwise to loosen and CCW to tighten, thus, you MAY be tightening it - check the thread on the end of the shaft to tell you what way to turn the nut - if it still won't come off then you may have to use some heat, and/or chemical penetrants, but make sure you are turning it the correct way first...
