Try ebay, They may have a cross referance. I'd try a starter rebuild shop, even for Auto starters. They may be able to put you back in business if it just needs brushes bearings, polished commutator.

you should be able to get your old one rebuilt or get a rebuild kit and do it yourself

I would guess your relay is shot. These are really cheap to replace.

are you fitting the correct pluge some twins run differant plugs in cylinders, have the carbs stripped and cleaned and balanced, clean out the petrol tank and fill with fresh fuel.

I am not familiar with this specific bike. Typically, there are several bolts to remove to get the seat off to get access to the battery compartment. Seats that are bolted on reduce the number of batteries that are stolen, by the way. Have you inquired at the local dealer or repair shop? You should have a tool kit under one of the side covers that has tools needed to remove the seat.
