SOURCE: my '86 suzuki savage won't rev up it just back fires

When I had my savage it backfired all the time. They are known for this. Make sure you fuel is not to lean. Just adjust the fuel. You should adjust that and put some sea foam in it or ethenol treatment since most of the gas is terrible these days. Running 91 octane will help. Also you will want to replace the muffler gasket too.
When you replace that it will smoke which is normal.
I sold mine but I know the bike pretty well from tearing it apart due to trying to fix it from not running properly. Let me know if you have any more issues.

SOURCE: cruise control wont work

Has the clutch safety switch been bypassed? - Does the bike start without the clutch pulled in? if so replace the clutch safety switch, most common cause of the Cruise not working, Remember that you must be in 5th gear, clutch & break levers out, foot off the break pedal, throttle twist grip not below idle - into the spring loaded portion below idle (There is a switch in there to turn the cruise to standby), The cruise switch on the right switch block is on. I was hoping to find you an free Owner Manual, but there isn't one.

Normally Fog Lights can only come on with Low Beams or Sidelights to reduce glare. I can't imagine that they are supposed to come of with directional blinkers because it would confuse anyone at the front of the bike.

Where is the turn signal relay located on a 86 cavalcade gv 1400 lxe?

Through the left speaker/indicator slightly outboard. Black box with a white plug.

What is the problem with it?

I'm having fuel problems. Does the cavalcade have an electric fuel pump? Best way to check it out.

Yes. It is located under the right (sitting on the bike) below the seat. The fuel fitler is located there as well. Remove the seat and forward rear wheel guard portion that is under the seat. The fuel pupm can be operated by pressing the starter button only, if your clutch safety switch has not been bypassed. If it has, then the starter wil operate (and your cruise control will never operate) Pressing the starter only, allows you to "Prime" the carbs to fill the fuel bowls up proir to starting.

Ed Siler in St Louis, Ms or Tracy Presnell in McPherson, Ks are the best people to do this job, Ed gets his parts from Tracy. Tracy did mine and I am in New Zealand. His website is www.cademaster.com there is an email group for these bikes via www.suzukicavalcade.com it has 1400 members worldwide and there are members in Daytyon, I have meet a great couple from Huber Heights also with an 86 LXE, via the group.

Hello,I replace the Stator and battery,on my 86,cavalcade 1400 LXE...starter ok,but the wires gets over hot with the voltage regulator together...thank you!

The wires from the Stator to the Regulator/rectifier do get very hot. Remember that the stator always puts out maximum power and the reg/rect shunts what ever your bike does not use to ground. A very wasteful thing to do, but that is what Suzuki decided to do with most of their models. There is a yahoo email group for these bikes joined through a link at suzukicavalcade.com - try it.

How do i change the altenator and where is it located on a 1986 suzuki cavalcade

Your alternator is attached to the crank on the left side, under the cover, remove the cover, disconnect the wires, pull the stator, you might want to get a book on this for their tips, but that is about it basically. Are you sure it is bad? I had an 86 that had corroded wires coming out of the case there, and once I put them back together, I was back in business. Check it out.
