SOURCE: just bought a kawasaki 600
do not try starting again until oil level and water level are confirmed. I would have a mechanic take a look at it to know for sure but sounds like you may have blown the head gasket
SOURCE: i have a 2006 kawasaki valcan 500 with 2500 miles
With out getting in the middle of a hubby/wife thing, Ha, Here is what i highly recommend: Especially because the bike has only 2500 miles on it, and it is only a 500 cc, i would positively put 10/40, otherwise might not make it to the 75,000. 5-30 is ok, but designed for higher cc bikes in my opinion , and for higher mileage bikes.

Hi the thing to do is wash your bike off remove bags and stuff that you can, then take it for a short ride and just look for the area where it is leaking.try not to ride it to fast because oil on a hot motor will blow all over making it hard to determin where it is coming from.
