84 trans am 4 barrel carb leaking gas

You may need to advance your timeing by 1 or 2 decrees. But first get you a spray bottle with soapy water. If it will crank spray around the carb base and intake. If you have a vacum leak. Nothing to do with carb

The 1984 model could be throttle body injected or a regular 4 barrel carb. The GT model is supposed to have a carb.
CFI is central fuel injection which is like TBI. The throttle body has two injectors mounted in the center, one for each bank.
If it has a carb you may have some adjustments you can make. If it is fuel injected you don't. The computer monitors the engine temp and exhaust gas to regulate fuel mixture.

check for fuel leaks. from the gas tank, to the fuel lines, to the carb. i assume its an electronic throttle body 2 barrel. i have seen those leak internaly from the inside of the carb/throttle body causing exsess fuel to be used. you could also have a very bad fuel/air ratio going on there. could be bad o2 sensors. but i would start with the leaking fuel first.

Unfortunately, old ford trucks **** gas. However, you can check your emissions controls. A stuck valve or switch can drastically change your efficiency. Make sure you have a clean air filter, check your timing, and carburetor settings.

in the end of the fuel line at the carb.It could be as simple as a collapsed filter.Sometimes happens when it sits for some time.

follow the fuel line up from the gas tank and you will find a round canister this is the filter also it is usually located on the driver side under that area

possible thats its where the line hooks to the carburator or the carb itself is leaking
