2010 Suzuki RMZ250 cut out while riding

Hi, I have a rmz250 2010. I was riding it for about 10 mins then it cut out and would not start! Then I roll started it and it went fine then after 10 seconds of idle it cut out and would not start again! Then the Kickstarter wouldn't kick down! I changed the oil there was nothing in the oil then it started and cut out straight away@

SOURCE: yz 250 wont kickstart

Hi!
You obviously look after your machine and very sensible when laying up, however as you are probably aware 2 strokes rely heavily on compression, A. to produce excellent combustion and B. to draw fuel into the chamber. So when you try kick starting you can't get enough revolutions to draw the correct amount of fuel into the cylinder, where as you push start you constantly turn over the engine increasing compression slightly and bingo it fires.
Can you remember how when kick starting it before this problem the feel on resistance when kicking over? has it now become a lot easier? if so you possibly have worn or broken compression piston rings.
A compression test will reveal this, I hope this sorts your query?

2011 Suzuki RMZ250 will not run without the choke on

Most of those answers are wrong. When the choke on you are making your air/fuel mixture richer. So your bike is saying it wants more fuel or is getting too much air. If you have not modified the intake odds are it is a dirty carb. Remove and clean it. All of the jets need to be perfectly clean.

Did you buy this bike from a dealer if so, I would take the bike back to them and state the problem. Ask them if there is a recall notice for this. Also inform them that it needs to be repaired under warranty as you've already had an accident while riding it.

My 04 rmz250 is overheating. It started smoking 3 different times when i took it out the other day. Id let it cool down for a few, continue riding and about 20 minutes later it would start smoking again....

Several things here. Do an oil change, 10w40 motor oil. Run premium gas and install a new NGK spark plug one heat range colder than stock. It sounds like you have an air leak causing a lean fuel mix. Check the carb mount bolts and the intake manifold bolts for tightness. Also set the valve clearances with a cold engine > .002 intake and .003 exhaust. Check for any cylinder head leaks. This would show up as oil on the cooling fins at the base of the cylinder head. Tighten the head bolts if needed.

Rmz250

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

An RMZ250 has no mechanical adjustment for the valves, they are shimmed. Best approach would be to consult the Service Manual. Engines used in the RMZ are identical to the KX series

Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
