Its a safety feature. Has to be in Neutral and clutch pulled in. if it wont start- check the side stand safety switch operation

SOURCE: my 92 600 katana wont start. It wont even turn

If the clutch switch, the neutral safety switch, and the side stand switch are all working correctly, then test the starting system. When you push the starter button you should hear a click , so you know the button is working.Follow the positive battery cable to the starter solenoid. Disconnect the two wires that activate the solenoid, test the two wires from the harness make sure the needle on your voltage meter jumps when you push the starter button, this means the button is good. Take a wire and jump the two posts on the solenoid or touch the two cables together. If your starter works, then you need a new solenoid. If you hold the starter button and tap on the starter with a plastic hammer and the starter works you need new starter brushes. Anything else wrong with the starter and you need to replace the starter assembly , the manufacturer does not make replacement parts for the starter.

I have a 2000 Suzuki Katana 600. Someone stole my flasher/kickstand relay beside my fuse box can I bypass this relay?

No you can't. You will burn out the switches. Just buy a used kickstand relay for $15 and a flasher relay for $8.71. There appears to be two relays, one for flasher and one for relay. When you write 'flasher/kickstand relay', you are indicating one relay does both because of the slash /

Gsx 600 wont start

Does the clutch lever need to be pulled in if it's in gear and you try to start it? Try making SURE it's in neutral before you try to start it.

Also check to see if it has a kickstand lockout switch that might be preventing it from cranking.

1992 GSX 600 F (Katana): I have a 92 katana and I just had the clutch fixed...

there is no reason for the bike not to start after fitting a new clutch as the clutch is only used for changing gears easier.its quite possible as the right + left hand fairings have been removed the shop may have disturbed some of the electrics under tank if this was removed to gain easier access check coils and wires to both switch blocks (handlebars) the tank can be eased off without removing the whole fairing to gain access.failing that check fuses in the right hand side panel near seat.

I bought a 92, 600 Katana. It has been sitting in the rain and such for two years. Had it checked by a shop and now I have a parts list for rebuilding the carbs. Before I start anyone know the best way to...

just tear it all out and replace the parts, not much to that part, but be very carefull with the posts that hold the floats. To set the float level, set them upside down on a level surface and look to see if the floats look level to the horizon of the earth. If they need adjusted, bend the little tab one way or the other (the tab that pushes on the float needle. Good luck, it isn't a hard project, but they are very touchy so don't be surprised if you have to take them back out a couple of time to adjust stuff. Good luck
