The bike starts up fine in nutral but soon as you put in gear it cuts str8 out
SOURCE: Bike shuts off when in gear
hello and welcome
it seems that you may have a faulty side stand switch. the side stand needs to be in the up position before the bike can be started off in gear. but if not the side stand contains a saftety switch that shuts the bike off when put into gear. to verify this you can check for spark when the bike is being turned over in gear with the clutch held in.
there should be two wires associated with this switch. a green, and green with white. so when the stand is up these two wires are connected, and the switch can be tested as such. thank you.

Eventually it won't start at all if you keep redlining her like that. My advice to you is get a faster bike.
SOURCE: bike starts fine, idles fine....but as soon as i
giv the clutch an ajustment-try the cable 1st then internally if need -not hard to dew
Testimonial: "thx czaa....much better rider than mechanic, so wasnt sure what the prob was...will give it a try"
SOURCE: I own a honda steed 600 v twin. the side stand
Dont know what the filter got to do with it, but side stand switches are normally closed when retracted, simply wiring the two ends together will give continuity till you get around to repairing the wires which are located on the stand pivot arm, lay bike over and look under, likelihood is wires are damaged around swinging arm area, so you must connect wires prior to break and insulate. PS, disconect battery first.
SOURCE: Gear problems
now you would have to make sure your clutch is not faulty as if the bike slightly jump while putting it in first gear and cuts off , you most probably have a clutch problem .
this is what you have to try first :
start the bike on while depressing the clutch while in gear and see what happens .
if the bike keeps on running , tension the clutch .
if the bike stall , your clutch could be faulty or your oil could be too ,thick and needs changing .
try this first and let me know how you go
