Have the carburetors or throttle bodies & injectors cleaned, clean fuel lines replace all fuel, change oil to be safe.

SOURCE: battery problems

After you start the bike put the headlight on high beam. Rev the engine and the light should get a bit brighter. If it stays the same or dims the battery is discharging.

If you have a meter, take off the seat and start the bike. Place the meter in DC Voltage mode and place the red probe on the + side of the battery and the - probe on the negative side. It should read 12v to 14v. Start the bike. The voltage should rise to over 13V or at least higher than it read when the bike is not running. If you rev the engine the voltage should also rise a 1/2 volt or so.

If the voltage remains the same or decreases you have a charging problem. Here are the two most likely fixes.

Tighten the battery connections.
The rectifier is not working. It is located on the right rear of the bike under the seat fairing. The rectifier converts the AC voltage coming out of the alternator to DC voltage which is what the battery needs to stay charged.

SOURCE: 95 Honda CBR 900 rr will not start.

Definatly a good tune up would help, but it also sounds as if you may have a bad stator. I would check the voltage at the battery and see if it goes up and down when accelorating.

SOURCE: battery

Two things can be happening, either your charging system isnt doin the job, or you have a short thats draining yer system... so
to answer your question... start by fully charging your battery, then put a volt meter on it and turn your bike on.... the volt reading should increase.... if it doesnt - you got a stator or regulator problem - if it does..... you need to trace your wires for a possible ground to yer frame

SOURCE: honda cbr 600 wont start

hi, each lead has the specific number on it. if you do this correctly then they genrally give you an idea to where the sit in the coils( the way they bend :-) ) also i believe the coils are better off been attached to the frame once you are sure leads are in corect order and possitioned correctly in the coils.i just presumed the coils neaded earthing. make sure battery is pleny charged as a bad battery can just hinder. it is also very easy to flood the bike so just check the plugs again. if they are unusually wet then dry them off and try again . otherwise maybe try cleaning all electics.

hope this somehow helped

SOURCE: my 88 cbr 600 turns but wont start

the speed sensor next the starter motor
sends a voltage pulse to the speedometer.

If you can get at the connectors
just down from the speedo you can
check for this pulse.

Block the back wheel off the ground.
Unplug the connectors and hook
a volt meter to the pink/green +
and the green/black - wires
on the harness side not the speedo side.

Turn on the key and then
check for a 0-5 volt pulse
when you turn the wheel forward
slowly.

If you have a pulse the speed sensor
is likely okay and your speedo
circuit board is faulty.

If you get no voltage pulse then you have
to check the pulse closer to the
speed sensor or check the connectors
and wires for faults.
No pulse can be a faulty speed sensor
or just a bad connection.
Have you checked the fuses well?

I have tried to start my CBR 600 F up,its turning over but not firing up, but it has been stood for a year & I've just put a new battery on it,what do I do next

Begin by eliminating ignition problems first: Be sure your kill switch is in the "run" position. ( I know, it sounds stupid, but you would be amazed how many bike owners will hop on after a riding break and leave the switch in the "off" position)

Next, using an old plug and leaving the installed plugs in place, unplug the cap to one of the outboard plug wires; either the #1 or the #4 and plug the old loose plug into the cap. Insure that the threaded portion of the plug is resting on metal and hit the starter button. You should see a fat blue spark at the loose plug electrode.

No spark? You have an ignition problem which will require more troubleshooting, but I am assuming when you parked it a year ago it ran, thus I will jump straight to what I think is the problem. Re install the plug cap.

Obtain some spray start and following the instructions, spray into the the throat of the carb, or into the air box. Immediately attempt to start. If it coughs/farts/sputters, you are in luck. Your ignition system is probably OK. You then need to move onto the fuel delivery system.

These bikes do not take well to long term storage as the remaining fuel will separate with the combustibles evaporating leaving a dark shellac-type residue. This can cause blockage of the very small main and pilot jets which will result in poor performance or a no-start condition. A first step is to unscrew the drain screw at each carb bowl and drain the contents followed by a flush with fresh fuel from the tank. If no debris, water, or gook (a technical term) is noticed, attempt to start the bike again. If it starts, but runs rough, I would recommend for you to pour some SeaFoam into the tank and run the engine

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sea-Foam-Motor-Treatment-16-oz/16664932 . This will clean the entire fuel system and may take a couple of treatments.

In the event you did not get the engine to come to life, you may have to pull the carbs to clean them thoroughly. A good instructional video is found on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXoDX1RzBJ4 Good Luck!

rev the engine to 3-4000 should rise to about 14v, this will show the charge system is working
Some batteries only last 12 months or so. if it is a couple of years old buy a new one, the gel ones seem to last longer

2002 cbr 1100 xx been sitting for 5 years just put new battery in & fresh gas now it is flooding fuel into crank case

Had the same problem with mine, been stood for 1 year. Put a new battery on it everything was fine passed the M.O.T. Waited until the end of the month to tax and it wouldn't start. Plenty of petrol in the tank, wouldn't crank over on the starter, but could hear the fuel pump kicking in. Looking for a fault and kept trying it, checked for loose wires and blown fuses to no avail. Then i noticed fuel light came on checking tank was empty. Wondering where the fuel had gone I found the engine had flooded into the crank. Stripped everything down found the problem was neutral switch was broke. Check this hope it helps you, mine in the 1999 fuel injected model. Cheers Kev :o)

My 95 f3 will crank but wont start. everything was working fine replace a headlight now it wont start with the starter. battery is charged and i can push start it but the engine just cranks and cranks and...

Sounds like a wire or plug got disconnected while changing the headlight out, the harness that connects to the clutch safety switch, the one that lets the ignition fire when cranking only when the clutch is pulled in. A safety feature so you don't dump the bike if you crank it while in gear.

Bke wont start

Hi there, try this sometimes the stand switch can make the bike not work if has got rusted at the back.and check or replace the coil., then check if you are getting a spark from the plug by putting the spark plug on top of the head. The next thing is if the bike turns over but not fire up, you need to strip down carb and clean jets, also check petrol value under the tank If you have a book it will go through this step by step. good luck.
