I RIDE A 2003 650 V-STAR CUSTOM. I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR AND AFTER 1 MISS DIANOSIS, TECH DETERMINED IT WAS THE STATOR. REPLACED STATOR, AND “STARTING” PROBLEMS ENDED. HOWEVER, NOW EVERYTIME I FUEL, THE GAS CAP IS HARD TO REMOVE AND IT RELEASES PRESSURE WHEN CAP IS REMOVED, AND SEEMS TO BE RUNNING A LITTLE ROUGH. NOW 2 WEEKS AFTER GETTING IT BACK, STILL RELEASING PRESSURE WHEN CAP IS REMOVED, AND THE OTHER DAY WHEN GETTING OFF BIKE, WHEN I PUT MY HAND ON TANK TO BALANCE AS I SWUNG MY FOOT BACK OVER BIKE, THE TANK COLLAPSED RIGHT UNDER MY HAND (I WEIGH 115 LBS). THEN I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET THE GAS CAP OFF WITH A LOT OF EFFORT BY MY 260 LB HUSBAND. COULD THIS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO W/THE THINGS THAT WERE DONE WHEN MY BIKE WAS REPAIRED? THE CAP HAS NEVER RELEASED PRESSURE BEFORE, OR BEEN HARD TO REMOVE, AND NOW I HAVE A RUINED TANK.
I ride a 2003 650 V-Star Classic and when I put it in gear the drive shaft turns but won't move. Does any no what that might be?
It sounds like they pinched the vent tube under the tank. There is a hose connected to the bottom of the tank that runs to the bottom of the bike. It allows air to enter the tank so you don't get vapor lock from the motor sucking fuel. You'll need to take the tank off and make sure the lines aren't pinching anywhere. I would call the mechanic and make him fix it and any damages to the tank.
