Hi I have got a gilera runner 125. 4stroke and the petrol won't go to the carb don't no wot it could be it has been sitting for a year or so tho. Any ideas peeps

The float or float needle in the carb bowl is probably stuck closed. Just remove the float bowl and clean the inside of the carb. Pay special attention to the float pin. Before putting the bowl back on, check to see that the gas flows when the float is lowered and shuts off when the float is raised. If the gas still will not flow when the float is lowered, remove the fuel line. If gas runs out of the line then the float needle is still stuck or trash is blocking the fuel flow prior to the needle. If no gas comes from the fuel line, the gas valve or gas tank fuel valve filter ( usually inside the gas tank ), is probably plugged up with rust or trash. Remove the valve and clean out the trash. I own a 2005 GMC Envoy with 70k. Today when i gased up the truck, the fuel guage stays stuck at empty along with the yellow light and bell!!! first time this ever happens to me? What can this be?

hi,
there is a float that floats on top of the gas inside the gas tank. this is connected to the sensor which goes to the fuel gauge. this float may have come off or got saturated with fuel so the sensor arm is stuck at the bottom of the tank. you can take the car up to autozone for a OBD reading but it will most likely have to have to have a new assembly. its inside the gas tank. the gas tank has to come out and it takes a weekend to do this. if you have a handyman in the family tell him you need a new sending unit in your gas tank. it may be integrated with the fuel pump as a whole assembly. you can go to autozone.com for the instructions. I will send along a link. the procedure isnt too bad usually if you take your time. run it all the way down on gas and keep a spare gas can if you run out. get it home on empty and drop the tank. good luck and be careful.

Gas tank stuck on empty but has gas in it.

You will need to drain fuel tank and drop it down t from tank. Remove the fuel pump and check the fuel pump sending unit. Using an ohm meter, connect the ohm meter connecters to the fuel level sending unit. Carefully lift up the float and the ohm reading should be approximately 8 ohms. Then let the float all the way down and the reading should be approximately 100 ohms. If not replace the fuel pump assembly. Hope this will help you.

05 grd caravan fuel gauge showed quarter tank and

The float sending unit is messed up and don't know now much gas is in the tank. The float may be stuck in a higher position showing more gas, in reality the gas level is way below. Try using a rubber mallet and tap on the gas tank near the fuel pump. It may help free up the float.

FUELGAUGE STUCK ON MY 2002 FIREBIRD

There is a float in your gas tank that raises up and down. When you fill your car with gas it will move up, when your burning gas it will go down. So if your fuel gauge is stuck then your float in your tank is stuck and you won't know how much gas you have. To fix this you will have to remove the tank to fix the float. Hope this helps.

If your fuel pump is an in tank one then you have probably got the float stuck when you put it in the tank.
Let me know if this is the prob.

Gas runs out of from carburetor

if you suspect the float is stuck, grab a screwdriver and tap the carb float bowl with the handle. you should be able to see this from the bottom of the tank. hopefully this will unstick the float.

if it doesn't, then it will require removing the carb and taking the float bowl off and seeing if the float is adjusted properly.
