This is very rare. if the engine kill switch is in the same grip, check it , it may be shorting/ loose/ defective. only other possible thing is the starter relay switch

Test the battery, bike batteries can and do just go open and dead all of a sudden, have been stranded more than once, filled with gas and then no start nothing, no lights nothing.
when you drilled out the pilot jet you destroyed it. Even if you have jewelers bits they are to big. One drill bit size is 6 to 10 jet sizes. Replace the pilot jets, you are running WAYYYYY to rich at idle.
Most bikes are built with this setup....
the positive battery post has 2 cables....one goes directly to one side of the starter solenoid relay, the other goes to the main fuse for the bike. With the key on, when you press the starter button it completes the circuit for the relay coil, which closes the heavy contacts of the solenoid and puts power to the starter motor.
This design allows the starter button to be constructed with smaller wires as they only operate the coil, not carry all the heavy current to spin the starter.
It sounds like your starter solenoid contacts are stuck closed so power is getting through at all times.
Sometimes with battery unhooked you can tap the solenoid and free the contacts....and it may work, however its probably time to replace the starter solenoid relay.
If the battery is in good shape and fully charged - and the headlight fuse is not blown, then I suspect that the starter button is at fault. The starter button does two things when you press it: engages the electrical circuit that causes the starter relay to trip, and, at the same time, cuts power to the headlight.
It could be that the contacts inside the handlebar mounted starter button are dirty. You can try spraying some electrical contact cleaner in there - but you are likely going to have to replace the whole right side handlebar switch assembly.
check battery for full charge and tight cables.use test light check for power to starter when pushing start button.if there is, check starter. if none check for power to start solenoid on small wire going to it w/ testlight when you press start.if none, check start button, & wiring.if youi have power to it,but no start, take large screwdriver & make contact between both solenoid cable posts,make sure bike is in neutral. should crank, confirming that solenoid is bad.also, even if the solenoid has no power going to it to energize it you can still use the screwdriver trick to get bike to crank.
