Why FZR600 seems to lose two cylinders while driving, carb or spark problem?

Problem is that the bike runs ok, idle, low range. revs nicely, smells slightly rich. as soon as speed goes over about 60-70km/h, it seems that one or two cylinders stops firing, it stalls, but after few seconds it starts and revs fine, and same thing occurs right away when picking up speed. i can accelerate the first gear all the way, but when shifting to second, it starts the struggle again.. Today it got even worse, ran like it would only run with two cylinders and didnt start afterwards. i have checked the fuel lines, fuel pump, i have cone filters on, have tried blocking the "raw" air coming to the filters, with no results. i have cleaned the carbs and rebuilt them and also they are in sync, float height is about 20mm, main jet size 110, needle jet is set at 3rd. (counting from the top. new spark plugs also. gas tank breathes normally, there is no vacuum.... Please, any ideas?

If carbs are clean and not flooding etc then try finding out which cyls are off then swop plug caps over from good cyls and see if problem moves , if yes then fit a set of 4 new plug caps ! if no then do carbs again !!

2002 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R after sitting for a month bike would not start. Got it to start changed spark plugs cleaned Carbs. Bike starts and revs nice. on first gear bike runs great, once in second gear...

Any one of these could be cause of your problem. Sounds like maybe a spark plug coils is bad. Did you gap the plugs? Also sound like secondary fuel injectors not opening fully, and air leaks inbetween intake boots and head. Start bike and let idle Use non-chlorinated brake cleaner spray small squirt on each intake boot find the leak when the bike idles up there is a leak. You can't properly sync multiple carbs if there is even one vacuum or intake leak. Take out spark plugs keep them in their own same cylinders. Read the plugs what do they tell you. Google how to read a spark plug.

The bike was out of use for about 4 months .it stards perfectly but when it is running in low rpm the engine begins to fail but does not stall in high rev it goes well I cleaned up the carb it improved a...

When you cleaned up the carbs did you also clean out the low speed idle jets? They are the first thing to plug up when your bike sits with out gas stabilizer in the tank. The bike runs great at speed but will not idle properly.

Bike seems to be suffering fuel starvation. Idles ok but cuts out when trying to rev engine. What are likely causes (diaphragm carb)

Yes fuel flow, choke on, dirty air cleaner, bad spark plug, bad coil, although they normally fail completely, plug wire sparking to chassis, timing not advancing (low power), sticky valves.
That is all I can think of right now.

If it revs and then cuts out=flow if it does not tack up(under load) at all carb is . Check for stopped up high speed jets.

I have a 97 gsxr 600 bike has rebuilt 99 motor with 97 carbs DandD exhaust K&N filter and stage 1 dyno jet kit. it runs great over 3500 - 4000 rpm. It also idles very nice, very smooth. Sounds smooth...

if you had cam overlap then it wouldnt start and when you pushed the starter if would smash the valves together, if it runs ok every where else then i would say its a crab fuel problem and at that rev range it would be pilot jets as the mains dont come into use at that rev range you should take your bike to your local dyno center and have them run it up they will sort you problem

Starts O.K. Lacks pulling power. Will not rev to full power.

check for a clogged exhaust look at catalytic converter it could be stop up.

Gas could be old, but it sounds more like you are losing spark to that cylinder at low rpm. Try a new spark plug, they're cheap. If that doesn't help, you could have a particle clogging the pilot jet of that carburetor. The pilot jet only works until you throttle it above idle. If it's clogged with a little junk, it will make bike idle terribly. Try spraying some carb cleaner through it (the one not running) with the engine on, and see if it likes the addition of fuel to that one cylinder. THis will tell you if you're lean on that jug. Good luck. Let me know. TT

Fzr6 running lumpy

il try n help m8,, can i start by eliminating a few things,, have u made sure all 4 carb floats are the same height ,they need to be, ,and there is no holes in the diaphrams at the top of the carbs,,even a pin hole will give u grief,, ,,wot happens wen u pull the choke out wen motor is warm and idling,, if it evens out and pipes warm up then theres a blockage in 3 and 4 carb, and idel jets,or could have a split vacume pipe, or a air leak between the carb and cylinder,,if all fuel symtoms are ok ,, then make sure the coil wires are on properly, and good spark on the coolest cylinders, , try swapping over the coils to to see if the left cylinder becomes cooler than the right,,hope that gives an idea,,
