Hello. I have a 1999 1200. Need more info, like does it jump into gear while idling in neutral? or is it just slamming hard into gear while shifting into first and then second while riding?

How does it sound when it sounds like it is jumping out of first gear. Need more information/description of the sound. It could be trap door bearings going but then one would expect the noise in all gears. I do not know if you are describing a bearing whine or growl or otherwise so it is hard to advise you. As the lower gears are in the middle of the transmission case there is an expectation that when things wear the noise from bearings etc will be greater from these gear sets. Post some more information about the sounds and anything else you notice or observe.
There isn't one if your not in neutral eather pull the cluch or it will jump and roll if you start it in gear a car doesn't hav a kill switch if you get out of your car and it's in gear or in neutral on a bike u got to think a little bit more
No, sorry to tell you that you don't need to break a gear in. There is something not quite right in the transmission if it's jumping out of gear. If I had to guess, he probably broke second gear speed shifting the bike, then replaced the gear and go the shimming messed up and it doesn't have the correct engagement with the shifter clutch dogs. To repair this, you'll have to pull the transmission out of the case. If your mechanically inclined, this isn't that difficult but you WILL need a factory service manual to check the transmission to find out what is wrong. Heck, he may have put the gear in backwards. Some of them will work that way but they'll jump out when power is applied or let off.
molre than likely the trans has to come out. The gogs and slots on the gears are worn . ( it's how the engage and transfer the power from gear to gear )
