Its either the alternator or the voltage regulator that has packed up.
Unplug the the cable from the regulator and using a multimeter to read ohms measure between all the 3 yellow wires, they should be between 0.3 and 0.5 ohms.
If ok then its probably the regulator.

Hi and welcome to the site,

Almost always, your described problem would most likely indicate a faulty rectifier / regulator combo.  Other possibilities are loose or corroded terminals on the connectors from the stator to the regulator (3 yellow wires) or the output wire of the regulator to the battery + line.

The connectors / terminals could be visually inspected and thereafter cleaned. The regulator could be checked with a voltmeter. At idling, battery voltage should be arounf 12.7 + while would go up to 14.5 as the RPM is increased.

Would appreciate updates.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

DO NOT JUMP START MOTORCYCLES!!!
Your main fuse is blown.
Motorcycles have much lighter gauge wiring and will burn up if you try to jump start them, this is why the fuse is installed so car guys dont burn up the wiring on their bikes!
Only charge a motorcycle battery with no more than 2.5 amps of charge.
Or install a new battery.

Battery will not take charge, but can jump start and it runs, but does not keep charge

Possible charging coil under the flywheel issue, or with the retifier, there is a tool called a negative shunt, this will quickly tell you if there is any charge to the battary from the engine

New battery , wires and plugs and still have trouble starting in the mornings, get a jump and starts. After running vehicle for awhile I turn it off and try starting it it will start.

check alternator output with engine running.you should have 13.5 - 14.5 volts if not alternator not charging.check alternator wiring to battery feed to alternator.check alternator voltage regulator wiring check alternator fuse make drive belt not slipping.and you have the correct cold cranking amp battery.bad old worn out battery cables will cause charging problems.because old battery cables put high resistance on the charging circuit.if battery cables old as vechicle replace them.

Kawasaki vulcan 1500 classic just clicks when trying to start just charged the battery but the little solenoid that has a wire to go to the starter just clicks

Hi and welcome to the site,

Initially, have the battery externally charged and/or load tested.

Offhand, with a freshly charged or new battery and clicking sound persist, then possibly a faulty starter relay. To confirm, temporarily jump the 2 big terminals of the starter relay. If the starter motor spins, then the fault on the relay has been confirmed. Should still be a no go, then a likely concern with the starter motor or more particularly, the carbon brushes and/or the commutator segments.

Good luck and thank you for asking.

Brand new battery keep's on dieing??new coil maybe, dunno, won't start.

Charge the battery and refit to the bike, start the engine and check that the charging system is working ok. Set multimeter to DC and check that it is charging between 12.5 - 14.8volts at a steady rate when revs increased steadily. If the voltage is not increasing or very erratic then it is a good indication that the regulator/rectifier is at fault. If the battery is charging well above the 14.8 then the battery is at fault.

I had to jump my 2007 kawasaki zx6r and now the battery is smoking. what is the problem?

Bad battery, or voltage regulator is bad.smoking is realy bad , loose wires or bad ends on the wires in the charging system could make it loose the charge and cause you to need to jump start it.NEW battery Check charging system for proper voltage.
