Appeared to have a low battery when starting my bike, but it turned on. Rode about 1 1/2 miles when it hesitated twice and then i heard a loud pop, sounded like a backfire. The bike turned off and i had no lights no horn, no current that i could observe. Bike was dead.

So is the battery...ignition needs "X" amount of Volts to run the ignition, the BANG you heard was the engine pre-igniting a fuel mixture in the combustion chamber - because the ignition didn't have enough juice to fire the plug...but the HEAT of the engine DID!
Replace the battery with one from WalMart and Ride!

Rode home new 883;, next morning bike wouldnt start, battery weak. would not turn engine over. bike is 2009 with 40 miles, bought from dealer

how old is your battery? if it is 2 to 3 years old it may need to be
replaced . charge it up and see if it keeps charge, crank your bike
run it for a short time 4 or 5 min. shut it , and try to start it. if it
drags when cranking go buy new battery.

LOST POWER WHILE RIDING

It is likely that youve popped a fuse
The battery would have to be totalled to behave like that
But it sounds like the battery isnt being charged properly. Make sure the voltage across the batt terminals is at least 13.5v at tickover rising to no more than 15.5v at higher revs
Make sure the battery connections are TIGHT as well

Dryer was running with full load of clothes. Heard a loud pop twice, ran back to the laundry room and smelled like something burning. Turned dryer off, and now it won't start back. Also, the very top of...

Well it sounds like a sound I have heard... forgetting that I had a cigarette lighter in my pocket and having it explode from the heat in the dryer. But you say you heard two loud pops?

Once everything cools down, check again and report back... does the dryer not turn on at all? Does the light come on when you open the door? Does it buzz when you push the start button? Stuff like that.

Battery appeared dead

The problem you are describing is due to a poor battery connection or a poor ground connection. Take the cables off of the battery and clean both the battery terminals and the cables with emory cloth. Get rid of all corrosion and other crud. Trace the black wire which is the ground to the other end and disconnect and clean it up alsl
