If it flashed and went out it is possible that you have a broken element in the bulb otherwise you will have to track down a poor or intermittent power or ground wire defetct.

SOURCE: How to wire a tach on 05 heritage softail

Locate & route Black lead to ground / 2004-later softail: On the frame strap under the seat directly in front of the battery.

Locate & route the pink lead to Signal / For 2004 & later FXST/C/I The #3 cavity in the connector {39b} on the back of the speedometer. The socket terminal on the signal (pk) lead fits the #3 cavity.

Locate & route the Orange and white lead to power / Ummm.. it's saying for 2004 and later to adapt to the fuse block For earlier [ For 1996 to 2003 softail: locate the power lead (o/w) in the tail lamp pin connector {7a} under the seat behind the right rear corner of he battery.] "here you are looking to run it to a fused line, not directly to power/battery" I hope this helped.

SOURCE: how to change oil for2007 heritage softail classic

The oil drain us usually a hose with a plug in it that is held by a clip on the frame. It us usually on the right hand side of the bike just behind and underneath the transmission side cover. Loosen the clamp and pull the plug out. The oil will run out of the tank. Replace plug and add new oil to the tank.

The fork oil is a very specific job needing a manual and a special tool, I don't want to insult anyones mechanical knowledge but if you have never done it before, best to take somewhere else. Engine oil on the other hand is easy, the drain tube to any softail is on the right side by where the frame meets the swing arm, has somekind of plug in it. Start and run bike for a little while, long enough to get it warm but not hot. Remove fill plug and then remove plug in drain line. Using a peice of cardboard or something put in between filter and frame , directing the oil to your drain pan instead of where ever it goes. Put 1 qt oil back in (after everything is reinstalled) start the bike and make sure the oil light goes out, when it does shut bike off and fill to the point that when it is standing upright you get a little oil on the tip of your finger, over filling may result in loss of oil cap from pressure (been there)

2011 Harley Heritage Electrical Issues

Question moved to HD sub category.

Sorry tale.

It has to be a simple connector block issue. They tugged a wire putting the fairing on. Look for wires that you can see around the steering head, front of the tank and up under the headlight. Usually there are a lot of wires behind the headlight glass and reflector and they fit with bullet connectors which are easy to pull apart.

Speedometer rear lights and blinkers don't work. head light works fine 2006 Heritage

Check the Accessory fuse 15 Amp to see if blown If blown, check wiring under rear fender as it is common to get frayed wiring due to loom hanging down or a larger tyre than stock fitted and rubbing against wiring loom.

1992 heritage softail fuse box. Is there more than one? Ihave blinkers but no brakelights or horn. Checked fuses-they're ok. Any suggestions? Thanks

A 1992 Heritage doesn't have fuses, they have circuit breakers from the factory. A circuit breaker is looks like a small metal container that is about about a half inch tall and wide and about an inch long. It works like a fuse in that execessive current will trip the circuit breaker just like the ones in your house but as soon as the bi-metal strip inside of it cools, it will reset itself until the next time the current level is exceeded. The current level is determined by the currrent handling capability of the wire in the circuit it is controlling.

Now, the Heritage was notorious of blowing the filaments in the rear tail light bulb. Have you tried a new bulb in it. If that's not what it is, you'll need a test light or a DVOM (digital volt ohm meter) and a schematic to trace out the problem.

The horn is probably not on the same circuit as the tail light. Use the test light or DVOM to check for voltage at the plug on the horn. It's probably got a bad ground or just the horn itself is bad.

Good Luck

could be bad bulb or while you were changing plug wires you disturbed the headlight wiring.check grounds, try moving the head light wires around to see if bad connection.if pass sides working it shouldnt be fuse or switches.

Turn Signals/blinkers

Did you double-check to be sure the fuses are intact and not blown? If they are OK, it could be a turn signal relay or the switch itself (I have firsthand experience with the switch failing with respect to headlight operation, so there's no reason to believe that it couldn't fail for turn signal operation as well).

If you find that it's the switch, reply here and I can walk you through its replacement - it's about a five minute job.
