SOURCE: engine oil

5w30 or 5w40 depending on season, temps, and mielage, but 5w30 of a good brand should be fine for most conditions. Do not use synthetic oil unless you were told it's always used synthetic. THis has been known to lead to clutch slippage. Happy Knee Dragging! TT

SOURCE: what kind of oil should i use for a 1999 honda cbr

10w-40SJ Honda Motorcycle oil only.
Would appreciate a rating thanks! Change your oil more frequently if you ride the bike hard or especially if you ride the track like i do...i change my oil before and after a race!! and i"ve put 30k "extremely" hard miles on this engine and still performs well for a bike with 50k on the odometer! my bike is the very first 87 CBRF1 Hurricane.. i also have an 88 with only 16k on the odometer! Hondas are bullet proof, but the oil is the Key because everytime you miss-shift and grind a gear the same gear oil is used to lube the top half of the engine.

hi,the transmission oil and engine oil are the same thing, one oil does both, hence why bikes use a multi grade oil,normally..most hondas you will find engine oil/trans oil filler on the top of the r/h engine side cover...hope this helps...cheers

Oil

The specs say 3.1 liters, which converts into about 3.4 quarts... somewhere in that general range, though I tend to put in a little more since I live in Taxes, and it's so hot down here.
