Tank back together put fuel back in went to start nothing like no fuel getting through what have I missed 2000 model

Sounds like a vibration between door and tank. Make sure all screws that fasten door to tank are tight and there are no loose parts attached tothe door or tank. If this fixes it fine if not sometimes you have to put tape and strips of rubber in places when you warranty has run out. Good luck to you...Tim

before buying a new HT coil (as these are generally bullet proof on an et), remove the inspection panel and disconnect the spark cap. secure something long, thin and metal into the cap ( screw, tweezers, etc) and position it with a slight gap to the frame. disable the immobiliser and use the kick start. you should see the spark jumping from the metal to the metal frame. I fyou see this spark, it is most likely that the HT coil is fine.
Sometimes the diaphragm in the fuel tap can go wonky on an ET also, meaning that it might start alright but after going for a while, once the carb drains, the engine will die from fuel starvation. to test the fuel tap, remove the 2 tubes that run from the fuel tap to the carb at the carb end and **** lightly on the thin one. you will feel the daphragm open and fuel will run from the fatter tube if it is working.
Another thing that might happen if it is running for a while then dies is that the carb might be allowing too much fuel to the engine and flooding it. If when it restarts, there is a lot of smoke from the exhaust it could indicate this. leave it tick over for a while to run off the worst of it then increase the throttle slowly until you hit full throttle, leave it run back down to idle and you should be set to go. only use the throttle lightly and go slowly and it should bring you home at least then adjust your carb.

there is no valve to turn off on modern bikes. you will have to syphon off petrol into a safe container and can pinch hose with a small pair of mole grips or bend hose back 180 degrees and put a rubber band on
