Disc Brake My dt125 is an old model bike, I want to change the front brake into disc brake, May I know how much it costs? Do I need to change the 2 telescopic?

try greasing the caliper slides if that doesn't work the caliper may need rebuild or replacing.

adjust the cable at the brakes or and piece by turning the retainer that holds the outer cable case

Top the battery up (if it is an liquid acid type) & or recharge it, or try another battery if you can, you may need to replace your battery, the noise that happens when using your front brake could be caused by a warped/bent disc or it could be that your brake pads are worn and the metal part of the pads are rubbing on the disc, take the disc off and place it on a mirror to check that it is not warped, also take the brake pads out and also check the caliper is not loose, give it a good service as 75% of braking should come from the front brake, if it dont work correct you might have an accident that you could avoid by having you bike serviced by somebody who knows what they are doing, Get it sorted & Ride Safe !!

It is not uncommon for discs including car discs after changing pads for the disc to squeel.

Because the disc will inevitably wear with use, the old brake pad that causes the wear will also be worn to fit perfectly to the wear on the disc as at engages, whereby grooves in the disc that are formed will be identically paired to that on the brake pad.

Squeeling is also common for old pads, as well as poor quality badly manufactured cheap pads, or excessive use of brake pads - where they get burnt and are too hard against the disc or dust fibres from the brake pad get caught within pad and disc. It could even be a combination of these that causes squeeling.

When you change the pads which are now new and being smooth and unworn they do not mate up anymore with the groove marks created from the wear of the old pads. The discs when brake pressure is applied will always vibrate to some extent, even on new bikes, however if imperfections exist such as the fact there is no wear marks from new pads rubbing against the old disc with its worn imperfections or even improper fitting etc occurs - they will sing in a high pitched squeel at certain speeds, even with good quality pads.

Other than ensuring all items are set up correctly, get a good quality brake pad and if it continues squeeling consider replacing the disc rotar itself or get the old one machined by a mechanic shop to be smooth again.

if the plate of the disc brake is really bent, you would feel a pulsating brake when you pull the lever during braking. If its bent, you'll need to replace it or have the service center replace it. It will cost you. They wont give it for free. and to answer your question, yes the disc brake comes in replaceable parts.. .or aftermarket parts.

The inboard brake shoe and lining is equipped with a wear indicator that makes a squealing noise when the brake shoes and linings are worn beyond recommended use.

A lot of cycles use a system where one front disc and the rear disc are both operated by the foot pedal. Only one front disc is operated by the hand brake. They do this because some riders refuse to use the front brake where you get 80% of your stopping power. The goldwing is an example of this. I do not know if any sport bikes are set up this way. How they decide the ratio I do not know. It could be adjusted by the amount of pad contacting the brake disc or by restricting the brake fluid flow to one of the discs. You should be able to buy off the shelf parts if you want to change the set up of your system. I would guess that what you already have is the optimum system.

Think of any of the motocross bikes.You will fit the cr front ends but it is also best to change the brake master cyl. at the same time.Check the weight of the exchange bike to get it pretty close to yours.Spring sizes and weights will then give you an upgrade ride and you dont have to play around with them too much.Look in the 250 2 stroke range first.Plenty of them around and the weight is similar.Hope this helps you

1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
   

1. Remove wheel and tire assembly. Be careful to avoid damage or interference with caliper bleeder screw fitting and front disc brake rotor shield (2K004).
   

1. CAUTION: Handle front disc brake rotor (1125) and disc brake caliper (2B120) assembly in such a way as to prevent deformation of front disc brake rotor , and nicking, scratching or contamination of brake linings/rotor surfaces.
   NOTE: To prevent damage, do not allow disc brake caliper to hang by the front brake hose (2078) .
   
   
   Remove caliper anchor plate bolts and discard. Position disc brake caliper out of the way. Prevent separation of caliper housing from anchor bracket because contamination of guide pin journals can occur.
   

1. NOTE: If excessive force must be used during front disc brake rotor removal, the front disc brake rotor should be checked for runout prior to installation.
   
   
   If additional force is required to remove front disc brake rotor , apply Rust Penetrant and Inhibitor F2AZ-19A501-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M99C56-A on front and rear rotor/hub mating surfaces. First, strike front disc brake rotor between lug bolts (1107) with a plastic hammer. If this does not work, attach 2-3 Jaw Puller 205-D027 (D80L-1013-A) or equivalent and remove front disc brake rotor . Remove front disc brake rotor from wheel hub (1104) assembly by pulling it off the lug bolts.
   

Installation

1. If original front disc brake rotor is being installed, make sure rotor braking and mounting surfaces are clean.
   

1. CAUTION: Failure to clean rust and foreign material from rotor and hub mounting faces when installing new or old front disc brake rotors will result in high rotor runout, which will speed up the development of brake roughness shudder vibration.
   Apply a small amount of Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A331-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M1C171-A to pilot diameter of front disc brake rotor.
   

1. Install front disc brake rotor on wheel hub assembly.
   

1. Install disc brake caliper and new caliper anchor bracket bolts on front disc brake rotor . Tighten caliper anchor bracket bolts to 88-118 Nm (65-87 lb-ft).
   

1. CAUTION: Failure to tighten lug nuts (1012) in a star pattern may result in high rotor runout, which will speed up the development of brake roughness, shudder and vibration.
   Install wheel and tire assembly on vehicle. Tighten lug nuts to 115-142 Nm (85-104 lb-ft) using Rotunda Accutorq® Lug Nut Socket 164-R0303 or equivalent on a 1/2 inch air impact wrench, or use a torque wrench.
   

1. Lower vehicle.
   

1. Pump brake pedal prior to moving vehicle to position brake linings.
   

1. Road test vehicle.
   

The hard part is pressing the caliper piston abck into the caliper so you can get the new, thicker pads over the rotor. A large C Clamp works best.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Pads —Front Disc Brake Removal

1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04 .

1. Remove the front disc brake caliper bolts. torx bit. T20?

1. Support the front disc brake caliper from the front strut and spring assembly using mechanics wire.

1. Remove the front disc brake pads.
   1. Remove the outboard front disc brake pad.
   1. Remove the inboard front disc brake pad.

Installation

1. CAUTION: Make sure the master cylinder reservoir does not overfill and spill brake fluid while retracting the front disc brake caliper piston.
   NOTE: It is necessary to fully retract the front disc brake caliper piston in the bore before installing the front disc brake pads.
   Install the front disc brake pads.
   1. Install the inboard front disc brake pad.
   1. Install the outboard front disc brake pad.

Caution. The outer pads are left and right. put left on driver side.

1. Position the front disc brake caliper on the front-wheel knuckle and install the brake caliper pin bolts.

1. WARNING: It is necessary to depress the brake pedal several times to position the front disc brake caliper piston before driving the vehicle.
