05 busa will not turn over.

I had my motorcycle painted. I removed the plastics myself. When I put it back together and attempted to start my bike the lights come on but the motor will not turn over.

SOURCE: clutch engaged engine stalls 2003 Suzuki GSX-R 1000

The bike has a sidestand interlock that prevents you from riding away with the kickstand down. That interlock is not functioning properly. Could have been bent or moved, unplugged, or perhaps the relay has failed. If physically activating the switch does not work, and connecting the wires with a jumper does not work start looking at the turn signal relay, some bikes have that circuit integrated into the relay.

SOURCE: 02 Busa cuts off when

Test the side stand switch. Use a digital multimeter set to ohm. With the stand up it should show infinate(disconnected) with the leads connected one way and the stand up. Then switch the meters leads around and measure again. It should now read 0 ohm. If not replace the switch. If you cannot find or afford another switch bypass it using a diode connected as shown. Diode(1N4001) can be bought at your local electronics supplier/ TV repair shop. Do not connect the wires together directly.

S = switch
C = connector
Cut out the switch and connect the diode as shown with the banded part of the diode on the bl/w wire.
If the switch did not test faulty then the problem is with the sidestand relay located at the fuse box (in the left hand panel, below the clutch lever.) These are even harder to buy. Bypass by connecting the orange/black and orange/yellow wires together. This will render the sidestand interlock system inoperative and is not recommended if you're in the habit of forgetting the stand.

Motorcycle will not start

My first question is did the bike work OK before it was stripped and painted?
It is possible paint has got onto the main earthing (ground) point on the chassis/frame. I would first check that there is a good earth connection from battery to frame and all light units. Other than the turn signals coming on do any other lights show when you turn the ignition on? If no I would try checking the battery. Remove the battery from the bike AND THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT remove the negative lead first then the positive.
Check the battery has voltage approx 12.5 to 13.2 volts is OK, next connect a 21 watt bulb to the terminals and see if the light dims over 1 minute. If OK get a dedicated motorcycle battery charger (a charger for a car is no good) with an output of less than 1 amp. Charge the battery for a few hours. Refit battery into your bike AND THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT TOO re-connect the positive lead first then the negative.

WARNING never try to jump start your bike from a car/van etc. The more powerful batteries in these vehicles will fry your bikes electrics.

ALWAYS use a dedicated motorcycle battery charger.

ALWAYS remove and refit your battery as stated above.

Good luck and hope this helps.

HOW TO GET MY BIKE STARTED

First thing to check is that you have cleaned fresh paint off any ground connections for the electrical system. All grounds must have a good clean metal to metal contact. It's usually either the battery earth, or the engine to frame.

I have a 05 r1 and with the bike turned to the side it starts right up and i can put it in gear and the back tire will spin, but when i stand the bike up to ride it dies. Any ideas?

Check the clutch cable and adjust it. If its hydrollic then check to insure it is working. The clutch may be Stuck together if the bike has sat for a while.
That is tough to fix.
Place the front wheel against the wall and try putting it in gear.
OR
Put the sidestand up!!!!!

How to change the petcock on 2002 honda vt600 c

hi,not that tricky to do,drain the fuel tank,remove the tank from the bike,turn the tank upside down and rest it on a bench or something,put a large cloth under it to protect the paint and sock up any surplus gas(dont smoke...big bang)most bikes only have two phillips head 10mm bolts holding the tap in(unless its british then you will probably need every tool in your workshop ..and your neighbours to get it out,,they use whitworth type nuts and threads and nothing on the planet seems to fit),once you have the bolts undone simply remove the tap and replace it with the new one,make sure you use a smear of gasket or silicone sealant over the o-ring and you shouldnt get any leaks,then just put her all back together...easy..hope this helps ..cheers
