Engine Rev goes too high while starting

I am stuck up with a problem which I believed changing Carburetor will help but it hasnt. Whenever I start my engine, the engine rev goes 3000 rpm and it takes 5 - 10 seconds to return to 1000 rpm.. While riding, it creates a problem as I release my acceleration, it takes 5 - 10 seconds to reduce the speed. I tried adjusting the pin for throttle ( that comes with the carburetor ). When I reduce it, the bike engine goes off withing 5 seconds in Neutral if I am not accelerating. Increasing the pin causes the above said increased rev problem. :( the bike also stammers a lot between 2 - 4 gears and runs without problem only if I keep accelerating. Please Advise.

As mentioned before check throttle cable, check where it connects to throttle tube and carb housing to ensure it not hung up. Ensure the throttle promptly and completely returns when you release it and cable is not gummed up. Consider replacing the cable if it is worn or old. Remove and replace throttle tube. Test return when throttle is not connected to tube housing. Remove gas tank and test carburetor return spring when cable is exposed to ensure a constraint or pinch is not obstructing return.

If throttle return is not hanging then look for obstruction in fuel supply line and air intake (I once found a mouse nest in the air filter of a dirt bike after winter storage)

Have tried lubricating the throttle cable and twist grip mecanism , is the cable routed correctly and no kinks in it ? where the carb fits to the engine check the rubber mount has no cracks or holes as it will draw more air than needed !

Shredder won't stay running without starting fluid

Water being heavier than gasoline is likely to be in the carburetor. If a bowl type carburetor, remove the bowl and clean. Allow the fuel to run for a few seconds to clear the water from the lines.
If a diaphragm type carburetor, remove the diaphragms and allow the fuel to clean the lines.

Briggs & Stratton Small Engine 110P02/0003-F1 start circuit

has nothing to do with start circuit. there is a spring that need to be bent at the metal arm that holds it to set your rpm up. or if you have a cable loosen it and adjust to correct rpm. do not over rev.

I can't start my home lite 26b blower

Mike if the Blower wont start, it's not the High/Low Jets.
They only adjust High RPM running and the Low helps the carb transition from Idle to High rev.
Ethanol gas is a carburetor destroyer... Also, it eats the gas lines .

Engine Rev goes too high on Starting the engine

Arul,
It sounds like you installed a new carburetor and the problem remains. You may have a vacuum leak between the carb and the engine allowing in too much air and causing a lean fuel/air condition leading to high revs. Check your vacuum lines for cracks, check your carb holder for cracks or gaps, listen closely for an air leak. Replace any cracked lines or carb holder with new, or a temporary fix may be done by sealing the carb holder with a silicone adhesive to stop the leak.

Not Accelerating beyond 40-50 kmph

NOT clutch issue - if it was the clutch the rpms would rev out but bike would go no faster.
Sounds like carburetor may be partially plugged up, main jet.
Or air filter needs replacing.

Hi there is a small stone fuel filter in the tank. this filter stops fuel from running back into the tank from the carb check to insure it still on and make sure there are no cracks or hole in fuel line that should fix your problem

Hi, my homelite is approx 12 months old and she has decided to rev at full throttle when she starts. no problem starting. she goes hard out normally. any sujestions would be appreciated. thank you. paul...

Open the cover over the carburetor/air cleaner and watch the throttle arm on the carburetor while you move the throttle trigger. It should go from idle stop to full stop and return to idle stop when trigger is released. If mechanically ok, then look for a very loose carburetor mounting to the engine or a broken heat insulator block between the carburetor and engine--a bad air leak can cause the engine to race uncontrollably (but will cause other damage if allowed to continue). If the throttle arm is holding open, then take the trigger assembly apart at the handle (make notes as you disassemble to get it back together correctly). Look for sawdust obstructing the trigger. Hope this helps!
