Lean pop or only runs on back cylinder and front back fires

I rebuild the carbs over a year ago from sitting for 6 months and it ran ok a little pop on rev and decelleration. Then 6 months later i had a problem where it only ran on 1 cylinder the rear and the front seemed to pop. so i rebuild them again. it still had a rough idle and popping. i ran it for about 30 minutes on the road and it still head a rough idle and lots of popping like it is lean popping. I have a 2005 v star 1100 classic. the fuel is fair. compression and spark good. A couple of thoughts in my head is to check the tps, the carb sync, but i never touched the sync screw. can you give me some advice. pls

Did you clean the Carb jets well ? my 650 dragstar gave me hell to answer after 4yrs+ of not working the fuel inside the carbs gummed to everything !! My friend and I spent a week cleaning and polishing the insides of the carbs !!

Exhaust 'pops' is generally caused by unburnt fuel igniting in the exhaust, air leaks can cause this too.
When you do any carb work its always best practice to check the carb balance and idle mixture settings.

bikes that sit for long periods of time need there points or electronics pick-ups serviced , rust and aluminum corrosion happens over time on these

miss fires are sure signs of this to mean out of time

and yes the carbs/tank will need a total cleaning out too

If it's back firing through the carb, usually means it's running too lean, this can be from the float if equipped is set too low, and/or air leaking somewhere. If you made no other changes (new exhaust system for example) and it ran fine up until a problem required a rebuild, double check your work, jets are in tight, no extra gaskets or o rings left from the kit, float level, be sure everything is re installed tight and right. Carbs a fussy, they'll run forever but with little provocation give you a headache.

your plugs are fouling out-usually blac soot--the float level has to be ajust on carb-it regulates rich/lean condition--the measurement is in a clymer manual with procedure

Had plugs changed runs rough

Sounds like a mixup in the firing order-Assuming the engine ran OK before the plugs were changed.

Ford 302 V8 firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 Distributor rotates counterclockwise (CCW) Cylinders 1-4 is on passenger side (front to back) Cylinders 5-8 is on driver side (front to back)

My 1400 intruder pops and back fires

I think maddogcycle is right. One cylinder is running rich and the other running lean. It seems as though they have not been balanced properly and the mixture not accurately adjusted. The settings on these carburettors are critical and must be adjusted with the proper gauges. I'd advise you to have the carbs cleaned and adjusted and tuned to the engine for balance of inducted air flow and fuel/air ratio (mixture)

Ignition problem with CB750K Honda

Please check carbs again. Gunk sometimes hids. Clean out orifice's
(vacuum inlets) real good, then spray with air hose. It takes time to get a bike ruuning good after setting over 6 months.

Yamaha TW 200 starts but won't run.

If the bike has sat for a long period of time without being run - the gas that is sitting in the carb(s) will shellac.. Then the carb(s) would need to be cleaned and "rebuilt"..
