Im having problems with my honda cbr f3 not starting, the starters working fine, just seems not to want to fire, i've check the carb, that all seems fine, i am not sure exactly what to do, concidering this is my first bike ever. any help would be great
thanks for replying ipod, well there's no security, and don't think there's a killswitch, everything seems to be normal on it, ok i've taken it apart, i know there's gas getting to the carb, just acts like there's not gas going through, not sure if you know what i mean on that. But all systems a go, just seems like there's no fuel getting through. I don't know nor really get it, this just happened over night, all worked fine, i went back out that following day, and it wouldn't start.thanks for replying ipod, well there's no security, and don't think there's a killswitch, everything seems to be normal on it, ok i've taken it apart, i know there's gas getting to the carb, just acts like there's not gas going through, not sure if you know what i mean on that. thank you again ipod for the reply, i got her going finally. Turned out it was a loose wiring as you had posted. Kinda feel dumb on it, but hey it's my first bike. thank you again i'll definetly keep this place in mind for future issues i may have.thank you again ipod for the reply, i got her going finally. does you bike have a security system or anything like a kill switch? If it were a plug or something in the ignition it would have given a clue it was going bad. often what happens also, is if the bike has a on off switch that acts like a kill switch i could be malfunctioning and not actually moving the switch from kill to on. It's almost certainly a switch or a wiring shorting does your electrical system seem normal the you turn the key on?

Take a shot of engine starting fluid and shoot it in the air filter and see if it fires. if it does it's gas, if it doesn't it's electrical. has it ever backfired or anything like that? if it was a gas problem it wouldn;t happen over night. the gas is gravity fed. when you turn the bike over can you smell gas at all after a couple minutes of trying to start?

It might just be flooded, turn it over with the throttle fully open to let air in to carb (turn off fuel whilst you do this ) then try and start it as normal don't forget to turn fuel back on. I've had a cbr f3 with same problem

When you strip a set of carbs you should balance them after refitting. The kit isn't expensive and comes with instructions. It could be something as simple as the throttle cables are set up wrong(if one is opening first then the engine may work okay in 1st but bog when under greater load ie 2nd)
Sounds like a wire or plug got disconnected while changing the headlight out, the harness that connects to the clutch safety switch, the one that lets the ignition fire when cranking only when the clutch is pulled in. A safety feature so you don't dump the bike if you crank it while in gear.
It should be 1 down and 5 up. About the 5500rpm at 85... That sounds about right with stock gearing. Let me know if i can help further. Good luck and happy holidays. Jay
I have a 1996 cbr 600 f3 and when I first bought it used it would not turn over for the life of it. It turned out that a major problem was the spark plugs needing to be replaced. Thats the first thing to do. Next clean out those carbs with some good carb cleaner.
