SOURCE: Changint Oil on my 2001 Fatboy. Pulled drain plug

Sound like you pulled the wrong plug to me. The oil drain plug in under your bike. Look at the oil tank from the right side of your bike. Near the rear of the tank, there's a large hose that runs downward towards the rear of the transmission. It continues down and looks like it connects to a crossmember on the frame. If you'll look under that crossmember, you'll find a plug that uses an Allen wrench or hex key to remove.

Do not remove the oil line that goes from the tank to the engine. However, you said that you found it to be plugged. Plugged with what? If the oil infeed line got plugged, it's because something has gotten into the tank. Drain the tank and check to find out what is inside the tank.

Good Luck

SOURCE: I have a HD 2003 Deuce -- It's ejecting the oil temperature gauge from the oil tank and splattering oil every were. Normally takes place during starting. Why?

There is too much pressure in the oil system. This problem is usually caused by too much oil, or a clogged oil line. Did the bike sit for the winter and the oil level seemed low when you brought it out of storage, so you added oil to the tank? If so, the bike "sumped", meaning oil from the tank drained into the bottom of the engine. Putting more oil into the tank caused an over full situation and that is why the dipstick is popping out of the tank. If this is the problem, siphon or drain some oil from the tank and run the bike until all the oil is out of the bottom of the motor. Then change the oil, adding the correct amount to the tank. DO NOT drain all the oil from the tank before running the bike!

What's the brown oil like substance in my surge tank I use dexcool antifreeze

  • Sounds to me like the antifreeze needs flushed. The say it's good for 100,000 miles but my experience is 75,000 miles max. When Dexcool gets old it turns a brownish tinge.

  • Now you want to make sure to pull the oil dip stick and make sure it does not look like chocolate mile. If it does then you have a cracked head or head gasket.

  • This can also be a little dirt/rust in the system. If the oil on the dip stick looks normal the flush your coolant.

  • Thanks for using FixYa

I am experiencing an oil surge from the carborator area when I attempt to start the bike.

When these motors sit, oil from the oil tank will drain into the motor.
The motor has a crankcase breather hose that goes to the carb.
When you first fire it off your gonna get oil blow-by from that hose until all the oil is pumped back to the tank.
Its normal, But you need to ride it more often, or at least fire it up more often.
if you have a continuous oil surge that doesn't quit, then you've added too much oil.

i've saw a carb float stick and in one night the whole gas tank drained into the motor. it splashed all kinds of gasy oil into the airbox when i started it. just drain it and put in a new oil filter.

Radiator is leaking, on the drivers side of car. 2002 Chevy Avalanche, 4 wheel drive trcuk. One owner, 106000 miles on it.

Removal & Installation To Remove:
WARNING
To avoid being burned, do not remove the radiator cap or surge tank cap while the engine is on or is still hot. The cooling system will release scalding fluid and steam under pressure if radiator cap or surge tank cap is removed while the engine and radiator are still hot.
CAUTION
If the vehicle's coolant is low, drained out, or has repeatedly needed coolant or water added to the system, then the system should be completely flushed.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Inlet hose from the radiator
    • Radiator outlet hose from the radiator
    • Lower fan shroud
    • Surge tank hose
    • Vent inlet hose from the radiator
    • Surge tank hose
    • Engine oil cooler lines from the radiator
    • Transmission oil cooler lines from the radiator Remove the radiator chevy_sub25_02-04_rad_rem.gif

    • Radiator bolts
    • Radiator from the vehicle
To Install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    • Radiator to the vehicle
    • Radiator bolts and tighten the bolts, Torque to: 18 ft-lbs (25 Nm)
    • Engine oil cooler lines to the radiator
    • Transmission oil cooler lines to the radiator
    • Radiator vent inlet hose to the radiator
    • Lower fan shroud
    • Outlet hose to the radiator
    • Inlet hose to the radiator

Was adding coolant to engine grabbed wrong can added motor oil by mistake what to do???? less than a quart of engine oil went into surge tank engine was not running

Not to worry. Drain the oil out of the surge tank. If there is a hose attached to the bottom of the tank just let it drain inot a jug from there. Otherwise you'll have to take the tank off and drain it that way unless you have a shop vaccuum. Oil floats on water, suction it out with the shop vac. When you drain it let it drain for 1/2 hour or so and then hook it back up and fill with coolant. Oil in the coolant is not nearly as big a problem as the other way around. Hope this helps.

How do you get to the rear plugs on a XG 350, 2002

Yes you need to pull the manfold to replace the back three plugs. No you do not have to drain water or oil. Use a good double platum plug. While your there replace the three wires. You do not need any gaskets if your cearfull. Good luck
