Cam timing how to adjust the timing chain

According to the official Honda Service Manual there is no adjustment. If the cam chain is worn/stretched, it needs to be replaced.
Here is a direct quote from the manual: "Measure the amount of the cam chain tensioner projects as shown (there is an illustration). Replace the cam chain with a new one if the projection exceeds 9.0mm (0.35 in)."
You need two chains and the part is obsolete. Here is some info from partzilla.com

The 83 & 84 Ascot share the same engine as the vt500c. It may be easier to find the parts in the UK than in the USA.

If it is just a little noise try to live with it.

how do you adjust the timing chain on a 125 pit bike

moving the base plate is how you adjust points. sometimes there is marks/scratches where the screws were tightend onto the base plate. try to line them up with the screw head.

To adjust the cam chain tensioner: disconnect the negative lead to the battery, remove the ignition cover plate on the right side of the engine, using the 17MM bolt rotate the engine CLOCKWISE 2 full revolutions, continue turning it until the corner of the timing advancer near the #2 ans #3 "T" mark aligns with the timing mark on the crankcase, ( as seen through the hole),loosen the locknut and bolt on the cam chain tensioner, the tensioner will automatically adjust the tension of the chain, tighten the adjuster bolt to 5-6.5 ft.lbs., tighten the locknut, replace the ignition cover and re-connect the battery.

That engine uses automatic cam chain adjusters. There is no manual over-ride or adjustment. If the cam chain is loose, you need to replace the adjuster at the least and possibly the cam chain and guides.

Cam chains are self adjusting. They have a tensioner that takes up slack as the guides wear and the chain stretches. You may be able to get away with new guides if your chain isn't too stretched. Look for pieces of plastic in the oil, which will signal work guides. It is possible you are hearing the valves rattle, and it would be time for a valve adjustment.

if your chain is makeing nois it would be a good idear to replace the chain a manual cam chain tenshioner will take the slack up but what about the valve timeing a worn chain will throw it out due to the chain stretching plus the manual tenshioner will make the guides wear faster if ya auto matic tenshioner has reached its limit that means replace chain no ifs or buts
