sounds like a ground problem. look for where the wire loom is grounded to the frame. it's probably loose.

Tach signal wire

The tach wire will be a pink wire under the wire loom leading up to your speedo. It's usually tucked into the conduit. If you don't have it there, then you'll have to run one all the way to the ECM.

Check the printed plastic circuit connection where the loom clips onto the speedo head, they can be a source of a short circuit .

Speedo needle doesn't move, petrol gauge moves up and down, low fuel light comes on and off, rev needle and temp work. Rear fog lights light comes on dash when evan side lights switched on

Probably a break inside wiring loom of one/more of the three wires that eventually connect to the speed sensor on top of gearbox. The break I fixed in my 2003 Leon 1.6SX was in the loom under battery tray. My symptoms were no speedo working, and erratic fuel guage (particulary when under 1/2 full). I repaired one broken wire.

2001 Ford Falcon AU111 speedo not working again. 4 weeks ago the sensor was replace as the speedo, odometer and the DTE were all not working. All has been good until last week, now only the speedo not...

Hi,
Just check the connection on the speedo sensor and the wiring that leads up till it gets to the main loom. There could be a loose connection there.

If thats ok then you will need to get the loom checked and the dash. It could be the dash is faulty..

Thanks

Peugeot speedo mileage counter and speedo dont

Had this problem on mine & the main dealer were stumped. Eventually found it myself after a lot of pocking about.Have a look at the wiring loom in the engine compartment. Looking under the bonnet look closely on the right hand side of the engine above the gearbox where the wiring loom passes from the rear of the engine over a metal bracket/support to the front. The loom has a tendancy to rub against the bracket and eventually damage the cables within. You will have to remove the air filter canistor & a few air hoses to get to the bracket. Good luck!

I have a 1991 EB falcon iv done a auto to manual conversion and now it wont start help please!!!!

there are 2 things. if the starter doesnot work you you have to bridge the wires that go to the start isolation switch this is in the loome that hold the reversing lights, starter isolator and speedo, it is very important to have the speedo connected or the computer thinks you are dead reving and leans you fuel mixtures, the best way is to get the corect harnass, have fun
