No...Full is on...res is reserve...Pri is Prime.
Do not leave it on prime !!! This is for re-filling the carbs when they have been emptied.
It is a vacuum operated tap, when switched to full or reserve, fuel only flows when the engine turns over...prime flows fuel all of the time.
The tap should be set to full unless fuel is running low.
Leaving it on prime when not running can lead to serious engine damage !!!

I have a 1983 Yamaha Virago 500 and I really need to know what RES and PRI mean on the fuel-**** and how I should use these functions

Those are your PRImary and REServe tanks, although it's actually just two valve openings at different levels in the same fuel tank.

The idea is to use the primary tank all the time and if the fuel level falls below the primary inlet the bike will stop as a warning that you're running out of gas. You can then use the reserve setting to get to a gas station.

Regarding the fuel stopcock of yamaha chappy, it has three settings: on, reserve and PRI, what is the neaning of PRI?, thanks...

You have a vacuum operated petcock....so that when engine starts and draws vacuum...a diaphragm lifts in the petcock to supply fuel to carb. When the engine shuts off...vacuum is lost and the petcock closes.
If you run the tank empty....in order to get fuel into the carb and get the bike started initially....you can open the petcock without engine vacuum by rotating petcock to the PRIME position. Once started return the petcock to the ON position. If you leave it on prime....with engine off...fuel may leak into carb and run into engine and contaminate crankcase oil with fuel.

Lt-f250x fuel vale has on- res-pri what is the pri position for

( PRI ) is the primer position for the petcock ( fuel valve) . This position is used for a couple of reason. this kind of valve works off vacuuum from the carbs, but if you run out of fuel you or remove the tank you can't create vacuum, so putting the valve into the PRI position allows fuel to flow inton the carbs without vacuum so you can start the bike. Once the bike has started you should switch the valve back to the ON position ON= normal position, PRI= primer position, RES= reserve postion. I hope this helps!!!

How can I get old fuel out of the reserve tank on '82 Honda Magna 750? I hope to not need to remove tank.

Hi,
Just disconnect the main fuel hose from the carb rail. Ensure that you have switched the fuel **** to reserve and this will allow the reserve tank to empty. Not all the fuel is going to come out unless you blow air into the fuel tank filler, this will then get a large percentage of the fuel out. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

Positions "Reserveswitch"

The On position is where you run the bike after filling the tank. The Res position is when you are almost out of fuel and the motor stutters you turn the switch it it and that will give you about 1/2 a gallon of gas left in the tank to get to a gas station and refill. Pri is for priming the carbs only. If you have ran out of gas after using the reserve fuel you switch it to this position to fill the float bowls with fuel. Do this for only 30 seconds and switch it back to On position.

Derbi Cross city 125 Fuel Issues

When you have it on main there is a little pipe that sticks higher up into the gas tank and once the gas get down below the top of the pipe it will start to make the engine sputter and you have to flip the lever over to reserve so the rest of the gas can be used. But once you have used up all the gas in the tank you will be empty. So when ever you flip it to reserve you will only have about a 1/2 gallon of gas left to get you to a gas station to get it filled back up. No there is not a separate tank in side the main tank.

Gasoline in the airbox, muffler (2006 Suzuki Vinson ATV)

usually when the needle and seat are stuck, the gas will run out of an overflow on the side of the carb, unless those are plugged for some reason, then obviously the gas will flow where ever it can. is the machine 2 or 4 stroke?,
