check your air filter if not that your jets in the carb could be clogged you can run some carb cleaner threw it while its started for quick fix.Or what i rather is cleaning the whole carb
You may have a stuck carburetor floar. It will let fuel in the carb overfill to an overflow drain hose and the fuel pump only works when engine is turning. You will have to have the carburetor serviced.
Normally, one goes to the carb, one to the gearbox and one to the battery. What sounds really weird is the diameter of the hoses. Three quarter and one inch diameter? Normally 1/4" to 3/8".
