SOURCE: is it Possible Tha Carburator Dirty Could cause The bike no Star

Yes, a dirty Carburetor can stop the engine from running.

Drain the carburetors. There should be a screw on the lower side of each CARB float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Is there any water in the gas? Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, (not all bikes have a water trap bowl). Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carbs to fill with gas. Try to start the engine. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetors from the engine.

FOR EACH CARB > Remove the float bowl and clean the entire
Carb with a spray Carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the Carb.

FOR NO SPARK > Check the fuses. Next, check for spark but with a new spark plug. How good is the battery? Is the kill switch on? Does the side stand have a kill switch? Is it working properly? Tip-over kill switch on your bike? Check the operation of the ignition switch and all kill switches with a volt ohmmeter.

Check the wiring harness. Did a wire come unplugged? Are all wires clean and with solid connections? Any abraded or pinched wires? Is the bike in neutral and the neutral light is lit up? If no neutral light, check the neutral switch and neutral switch wire on center casing. If still no spark, get CDI system and coils checked at the dealers shop.

SOURCE: 2001 Yamaha V star 650 will start, run for a second

I ran into a problem like that before and it could be the computer, they do that when it works intermittently. The part is priced up there so go over every thing else it could be first

Won't start

If fuel smell from exhaust then most likely not firing. Check for a good spark, also check spark plugs. They are probably wet with fuel. Clean and dry them or replace with good ones and try again. If plugs always getting wet but spark to the plugs is good, look for cause of flooding. Maybe leaky needle and seat in carby, blocked air intake, choke stuck on etc.

I have a 2007 yamaha v-star 1300 fuel injected motorcycle and it will not start but as soon as you shoot a small amount of starting fluid in it it will fire right up and run perfect cold or hot makes no...

Can you hear the fuel pump? If not then it will need to be replaced also check the fuel filter they will clog up some times. The other thing is check the fuses for the injection system. and you can also unplug the injectors and test for power at the injectioner.
