It may be time to replace the brake fluid - there may be water in it which can be absorbed from the air. Also, be sure to bleed any air out of the system.

SOURCE: my 2003 1200 gt warning

Rene - the manual recommends having the break system checked immediately if the reservoir drops below MIN. It has happened to me once were the warning light was staying on and after carefully riding it down the street in my subdivision the warning light went away.

However if it does not go out after the self diagnostic - there is a possibility the ABS is not functioning and you are only left with a RESIDUAL BRAKING FUNCTION which helps slow the bike but not safe for riding. I would take it to the dealer if the warning stays on and for safety sake -- have it towed.

SOURCE: Front brakes jammed

If you were unwise enough to think that draining brake fluid from your front brake was anywhere near to a sensible solution to a braking problem, please take your bike to the nearest repair centre and get it fixed properly before you kill yourself or someone else, or both.
That has to be the most bone-headed solution to a braking problem I have ever heard.
YOU CANNOT HAVE TOO MUCH BRAKE FLUID - BUT NOW YOU HAVE TOO LITTLE!

Hi Russ:

There is some adjustment at the threaded rod between the rear master cylinder and the brake pedal. Kinda hard to describe, but you loosen the locking nut and turn the rod a few turns to make it longer and raising the pedal...... BUT the brake switch is separate and too much adjustment will cause the ABS modulator pump to run... not a good thing. Basically, brake pedal height is non adjustable.... just have to get used to it.

Yes, the ABS pump runs whenever the brakes are applied. Your '04 1150GSA has the power assisted ABS brakes.

Testimonial: "Thank you for responding so quickly. I will make the suggested adjustments. By the way, your description is very clear to me. Excellent! God bless."

2008 Dodge Chellenger SRT, Brakes are down to 6mm, do i need brakes

Vehicle and brake manufacturers generally say brake pads need changing at 3 mm and some which aren't very thick when new 2 mm is the recommended change point.

Vehicle repairers tend to use any excuse to make a little more profit but in the case of a car that does a high mileage which they are unlikely to see for a year does rather justify a change at 6 mm, though strictly they should obtain prior permission to do so.

I have experienced brake fade twice and both times was when I replaced brake pads shortly before holidaying in a mountainous region. Having learned my lesson I would now holiday with well-bedded brakes and change them when I returned home. Brake fade is definitely not funny especially when driving an auto.

Rolls Royce Shadow 1 brakes fade then come back after a few hours

Firstly you should change your brake fluid then bleed the brakes and check for leaks if the fluid is old it could get hot or boil through use and cause bubbles which will compress when you press the pedal but when it cools down again it will feel “ normal” again

Rear brakes gone at 30,000 miles. Is this normal?

Certainly not. Still under warranty? Are they rear calipers or drum brakes with brake shoes? If drum brakes, they are self adjusting. You drive in reverse a short distance, hit the brakes, reverse again, hit the brakes. Every time you do that, the adjuster will move the brake shoes outward as needed to adjust for wear.
Try it and see if the brakes are better. Brakes with calipers and rotors do not require adjustment-they are truly self adjusting.

Replaced rusted brake lines but did not replace valve in rear lines will this cause brake fade in 1995 bonneville

BY brake fade away I take it that you mean the pedal goes to the floor after you taken your foot off the brakes. . The valve you left out is a compensator valve that proportions the pressure between front and back to stop rear brake lock up and side skidding. I think the problem is in the master cyl in that the nonreturn valve under the second piston is not working and hold residiual pressure in the rear lines (Assuming they are drum brakes). If not you will need to bleed the m/cyl by cracking the lines at it one ata time and emptying the cylinder of trapped air allowing a full charge of fluid every time you pump the brakes.

Try this if rear drum brakes.Go in reverse about 8 feet and hit the brakes. This will self adjust the rear brakes and possibly fix the issue.Your rear brakes may have become locked.

Hi my name is Tom and I can help you.

Driving with your emergency brake on is only going to affect your rear brakes. There is a cable running from the emergency brake lever to your rear brakes.

You did not say how long you drove with the emergency brake on, but even a short distance and you forced the front brakes to do the work of stopping the car. This causes overuse which translates to heat. When the brakes over heat they "fade" and do not stop the car effectively.

In addition the heavy load of doing all the stopping causes the brakes not to realign. Therefore, when you go around corners the brakes pads will rub against the rotors.

I would suggest you get the brakes looked at or look at them yourself. I can help you do the job but I would need to talk to you directly. Let me know what I can do to help.

How do i change brake pads on a 2003 dodge

You have air in the brake system and you will have to bleed the brakes. This will take time but if you keep your eye on the fluid level and then open the bleeder screw on one caliper at a time and let about 1 to 2 cups of fluid come out of each side you should get the air out of the system to regain your brakes.

Rear brakes lock up

ABS hydraulics on that unit are a known problem.

The dealer has a set of gauges to install and verify.

Shop around for prices on one, including salvage, then take it to the dealer to verify the concern before you shell out a couple hundred bucks.

Its not a tough replacement if you are handy with a wrench.

If not, leave that one to the pros.
