Hi simon clarke, I want to help you with your problem, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
When you pull clutch in, put into first - with clutch still in wheel will not move, take clutch out, wheel should move. Are you saying, when you take hand off clutch - wheel doesn't move and it doesn't stall?

Sounds like the pressure plate is not fully disengaging.

SOURCE: ktm 125 sx 08 stuck in 1st gear

You have a bent shift fork and possibly something else going on. The engine will need to come out of the bike. Remove the top end, the flywheel and electrics, the clutch, the shift mechanism and kick starter and a few other parts. THEN you are ready to split the gearbox to get to the crankshaft, gears and shift forks.
You will need an impact driver, flywheel puller, case splitter, torque wrench and factory service manual, plus the normal screwdriver, pliers, etc.. Alternate to the special tools is taking it to the dealer and say "Fix it". I often tell people to take it to the shop just so they don't get into such an involved project and they now have a knowing eye and experienced hands working on the problem.
The repair cost will probably be $800 or so.

SOURCE: clutch doesn't engage until bike gets hot

this is the same with all 4 strokes. they all need to heat up before you can ride them, but this is not a problem.

Can i restrict a ktm 525 to 33 bhp

yes. like any bike your local dealer can restrict it for you.
i would question why you would want to restrict the 525 when it would be easier to get a 250 and restrict that instead. the difference would be much less noticeable and you wouldn't feel like you were riding a castrated bike. i'd wait for your licence upgrade to get a 525. or just do your accelerated access in the mean time and get the 525 in it's natural form. if you can afford a 525 you can afford accelerated access.

2008 KTM 530 EXC is a bugger to start.

While it's generally considered a cardinal sin to touch the trottle on a thumper while starting. I found my pumpkin liked to have a quick squirt (little blip of the throttle) before trying 1st. Got luck I discovered this after many hours of head scratching.

which one would be the best?First of all there is no sxc it's sx exc mxc. The difference in the sx and exc is the sx is strickly a mottocross bike. It is not geared or setup suspension wise to ride in the woods. It is much more radical than an exc which is designed specifically for woods riding.,,,
