The wire mesh should be closest to the engine. it keeps the filter material from being drawn into the carburetor.

hi meyers i appreciate your reply....but in my bike...i suppose in every bike there is only one inlet and outlet for air....so i have my filter as a piece of sponge with two skeleton sandwiching it and a wire mesh on one side...the newer version of the same bike didnot have any wiremest rather the sponge was two colored so u always knew which side came near the engine. so i am confused as i dont want to ruin my mileage

Our WM2016CW machine's drain hose has a wire mesh filter on the end of it. The drain hose then is attached to a drain pipe which used to be connected to an old sink (no longer there). Is this mesh

This is not needed, It has been put in place maybe because of a tendency to get blockages in your drains? These machines break up the particles a lot to assist in removing them and resulting in less pump blockages so what used to collect in older machines pumps now goes down the drain.

2002 Yukon Hesitation when starting- No checking engine lights!!

This can be fuel pump related or just fuel filter related, spark plugs and injectors.
When engine is cold vaporization of gasoline is minimum. When fuel vapor is less than required and the fuel mixture is not ideal, ignition happens harder than it does under ideal running conditions of engine. When fuel pups is sweak, or filter is limiting, or fuel injectors are not injecting gasoline with improper pattern inside engine, or just becasue of corroded spark plugs, cold engine faces difficulties during first ignition.

PS: sometimes car starts and stalls.it fails to start once more. this can be a sign of broken crank position sensor. FYI.

I need to buy filters for the spout. Where in the San Jose area are they available?? Melitta MEK 17W electric kettle.

If you can no longer find this scale filter online or from the manufacturer, then you can still repair your original one and make it better than new! This fix has worked perfectly on my MEK17W kettle and it turns off properly when the water boils.
Buy a piece of 3"x3" 100 mesh (150 micron, must be stainless) on Ebay - under $3 inc shipping. Carefully cut the old plastic mesh out of the original filter frame with an exacto blade and very lightly sandpaper the triangular face of the plastic frame that faces into the kettle. Then temporarily hold the stainless mesh to this inside face of the filter frame with a couple of clothes pegs and use a pencil to mark the
triangular outline of the mesh so that it will fit flush against the plastic and also be no wider than the frame. Carefully cut the triangle of mesh to size with scissors. Thoroughly mix up a small portion of 5-minute 2-part epoxy glue (Loctite or JBWeld) with a thin wooden coffee stir stick and apply just a smear of glue to the frame. As soon as the glue starts to get tacky, gently fit the mesh to the frame and clip it there lightly with 5 plastic clothes pegs, 2 on each side and 1 at the bottom. To ensure their release, you can first wipe the pegs (where they pinch together) with the faintest skim of Vaseline or sewing oil. Let the assembly set for 24 hours and then carefully ease off the pegs. You will now have a filter that will last longer than the kettle.

Hi there, I pulled my air con filters out to clean them and have forgotton which way they go back. On 1 side under the mesh is a foam filter and on the other side there is a funny sort of pleated thing. I...

Hi Carlee,
The first thing you need to do is figure out which way the air flows, if the filter goes in a return grille turn the pleated side away from you if the filter is in the indoor unit however the pleated side of the filter should be facing toward the top of the unit.

I replaced the air filter in my 1999 Buick Century. I can't remember how the old one went in. I placed the wired side of the filter toward the engine, is that correct?

The wired side faces the air intake, not the engine. other wise, if the wire were to some how break or corrode, the debris will not enter the engine. Thanks for using Fixya.

2002 Intrigue Air Filter

The wire mesh or screen side should be facing up. The screen is there as a reinforcement to stop the filter material from bowing-in from air pressure and debris when the car is moving.
