Wont start by kick start but will by pull start

My 2003 kx 125 wont start unless u pull start it. but it dies unless u keep the revs up about half throttle. the reed valve is good, air cleaner good, new spark plug, i pulled the exhaust valve cap off and black oil came out?? would it be the exhaust valve? shouldnt the valve move when you kick start it? or does it move only when its running?

It could be the gaskets around your carb are bad and leaking air if so its thinning your gas fumes with more air then what is needed inside your combustion chamber witch is causing your engine to stop running like that. best of luck

Sounds like your idle jet is clogged, remove your carb and clean idle jet cause it won't idle or kick start without it...good luck to you friend...Tim

1990 kx 125: The bike is pretty hard to start and then when i do get it started it will die out if i dont keep the revs up. It will even still do this if i have been riding a while.

How did you get on with FTjoes fix? That would be my first thing to do, dont forget to take out the jets and give them a blow through, then treat the bike to a new plug if you haven't already. :)

2003 KX 125: 1999 kx idles but dies when you rev it its like yo...

check the carb float and the float settings. also clean all the jets out. check the joke aint sticking. check the condition of the air filter for rips or holes as that would explain why the bike is bogging when reved

Bike wont kick start or idle , it will coast

first drain the carby, then set your air mixture screw 2 turns out, from the fully turned in position. The starting proceedure is as follows, when the engine is COLD, turn on fuel, pull on the choke fully, and kick the engine over. DO NOT use any throttle, when the engine is cold, and the choke is on. Remember Choke on, NO throttle.
When warm, no choke, and a little throttle when kicking.

I cant get my 2003 kx 125 to run properly

Remove the slide from the throat of the carb, move the clip on the jet needle one notch lower. This will richen the low end fuel/air mix. - - - Simple, quick, and free.

Do it, then rate this answer as "Very Helpful". Thanks.
