The idle isn't adjustable. you might want to have the idle air control motor checked out. they are prone to sticking in the open position allowing more air into the intake

Idle is not adjustable. The computer takes care of any idle adjustments needed.

SOURCE: i have a 1994 gmc safari. It seems to have a smooth idle at times

Im not sure if you got it fixed yet! It could possibly be idle air control valve. But here some more suggestions! I had a 94 Safari van 4.3 liter I was working on for about three days and I finally figured out what was wrong with it. It would run fine for a couple minutes and as soon as I hit the gas and let off it would surge, but anyways I ended up changing the distributer, after the fuel pump and filter, mass air flow sensor, egr valve, idle air control valve, map sensor, and ignition module. So that might sove the problem if you were on the same track with it as I was. Hope this helps ya!

Why is steering hard at idle on GMC safari

This is common for these. The power steering pump does not move a lot of fluid or have high pressure when at idle.

Safari 1994 gmc carburator

Well the engine is fuel injected, so no carb is used.
Base idle is set at the factory, and the computer adjusts idle speed depending on load by controlling the amount of air entering the throttle body thru the idle air control valve.

How can you adjust the carburetor on a 1987 GMC safari van V-6

If the carburator has never been rebuilt, or the plugs that were installed at the factory have never been removed, you need to remove those plugs, there is one for each idle mixture screw, at the front of the base plate on the bottom of the carburator, 1 for the TPS adjustment on the driver side front of the carburator, and one for the mixture control solenoid on top of the carburator, in the middle, towards the front.

Changed distributor on a 2002 gmc safari and cant get it to start

hi there, if you havent changed a distributor before then i would get a mechanic to check it.. the way it works is very confusing and if it is the slightest bit out it will not run or it will run rough...
if you have it right then you should be able to adjust it by loosening the bolts and rotating the cap but be very carefull as you are dealing with potentialy fatal amounts of current when the engine is benig turned over .
