Question about 2005 Suzuki GSX-R 1000

1 Answer

2005 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 will not turn over

She got dropped! Now I get power to everything up to start, but then when I push start the bike's lights go dim, and the battery is full. TO sensor is good but don't have a way to access ECU. Will a push start reset the locked function to its original unlocked state and allow distribution to the rest of the bike? @

Hi, Aretoo, before testing any electrical component in the Starting Circuit it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Engine Run Switch is "FAULTY" or corroded.
4. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
5. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
6. FOB battery low or dead.
7. Faulty ignition switch.
8. Faulty starter button.
9. Faulty kickstand, clutch, neutral safety switch.
10. Security alarm needs a reset.
11. Starter relay, solenoid, starter motor or circuit wiring faulty.
12. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
13. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
14. Faulty ignition relay.
15. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
16. Check for engine trouble codes.

SOURCE: Daytona 675 won't start

Hi,

Two possibilities:

  • starting relay. This could actually be bypassed/jumped to determine if the starter motor will turn:
  • starter motor. most likely carbon brush.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: No starter engagement 2005 Silverado 1100

I would seriouly look at the starter clutch, the 1100 yamaha cruiser motors are notorious for this problem way back when the same motor was in the viragos and the xvs 1100 vstars, yamaha have tried to fix the prob over the years but stillhavn't got it right. if it just spins and whirs without engaging the engine, but sometime will kick in engagement, it sounds like your starter clutch is on it's way out. they cost from yamaha around $450- 500 ea plus around $350 to fit you have to include a $30 gasket in all that.

SOURCE: charging problem/no start 95 ninja zx6r

If lights dim when trying to start,Battery is to weak(may have 12 volts but not enough amps)
Bike dieing when removing power from jumper says the lighting coil on the stator plate is bad and this could also have killed the voltage regulator,Which would kill the battery by over charging it.
Hesitation and carbon smell could be from a non firing cylinder.

So,Take the battery and have it load tested (free at most auto part stores)
Check for power from the lighting coil on the stator
Replace the voltage regulator.

SOURCE: My 2005 Suzuki Boulevard Will not start most of

Same problem here ... 2008 C90T ... dealer no help ... in 3rd or 4th, ignition off, force it to roll backwards until you hear the piston shift ... should start then. Told it's the rear piston stopping at or near top dead center, but also told adjust the decompression will "solve" the issue; anyway, a rolling forward-start in 4th will work, too, otherwise try rolling the bike backwards until you hear, and you will know when the piston moves and then it will start.

Bike was dropped, changed the oil and battery is too dead to jump start it, hooked up to another battery, fuel pump turns on, lights come on, no caution or warning lights, the start button doesnt work,...

Hi
If your batt is no good replace it do not connect another in parallel
Batt shd have at least 12.6 volts with no load
If solenoid still does not click then it is the starter circuit that is suspect

F1 light comes on bike runs fine

Hi,

Its pretty common and its related to the throttle position sensor, a suzuki dealership should be able to reset the sensor, or ajust whatever, but it cost you $150 DOLLARS FOR A NEW SENSOR.

You can use one trick that worked most of the times :-

Turn the bike off, turn the key back to the on position, but don't start the bike, turn it off then start the bike.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

When warming up, my K3 GSX-R1000 red light (oil) stays illuminated & F.1 displays where temp is.. what does it mean

I have been told this is the "dealer mode" and it might clear if you the bike off then turn the key back to the on position, but don't start the bike, turn it off then start the bike. this is supposed to reset the FI light.

To find out why it has brought this light up in the first place might require you actually taking it to a dealer, but there are lots of forums and info on this bike on the web
