Sounds like the fuel sending unit in the tank and the temp sensor is probably bad or grounded out

Sounds like you have a ground fault. I once had a car with a faulty ground wire on the headlight, when I put high beam on the speedo would jump to 170km/h and the indicators would glow dimly. Sure sounds like a similar ground fault to me, check all the ground straps, from the headlight or anywhere else you can think of.

Dash gas gauge stops showing proper gas level once it hits half a tank. Then gauge will fluctuate between empty (light will come on), full and anywhere in between but seems fine from full tank to half

If the trouble with the gauge started after you worked on it then you likely damaged or created a restriction to the movement of the sending unit. You will have to remove the tank and double-check your work.

Water tempature gauge shows hot when car is cool ;and hasn't been driven

It sounds like the temp sender may be bad. This is the sensor that sends a signal to the gauge on the dash (as opposed to the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor that goes to the ECU instead.) It is located on the bottom front of the thermostat housing (which you will find if you follow the large hose from the top right of the radiator.)

Before replacing, make sure the connection is clean and secure, then check the wiring for any obvious failures.

Tempature gauge goes to high with full coolant.

if no codes a few choices to problem could be fan not working properly/thermostat stuck closed or broke/water pump failure/radiator clogged-outside blocked/bad sensor(usually pops a code)these are the most common good luck

How do you fix the temp gauge it stopped working ad is stuck above the H

Hello tj60576: My name is Roger I will help you. If the temp gauge is stuck? Locate the temp sensor on the motor.Disconnect the wire. After disconnecting the wire. Ground the plug end of the wire. You can do this with a extra piece of wire. Observe the temp gauge with the key on. The gauge should move to cold side of the gauge. If the gauge still reads hot or above then the problem is either in the dash or the gauge itself. You will find the sensor located on the cross over pipe front of the engine far right hand side of the tube.
Should you need further help please just ask. Please rare the answer you received. This way I know the answer helped. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

92 k1500 5.7L tbi fuel gauge always reads full and temp gauge always stuck down.... any suggestions

Two possible problems.... the temp gauge wire is a single green wire attatched to the driver's side head (no1 bank) near the front in the side (in front of plug #1) ground it and your gauge should go to full hot,,, same with the fuel gauge, if you unplug it at the tank it should go to empty, or visa versa... if the gauges respond, replace the sending units, if they don't, replave the instrument panel

Fuel gauge problem

Got the same problem, when empty fuel gauge shows full but fuel indicator light lights on.
Problem was the gauge itself and replaced by a second hand one.
How to remove: Remove the front glass (8 screws), remove the black frame (free), pull out both gauges (Fuel & Temp) they come togheter with their frame using a little screewdriver under their corners. Push the new unit in.That's it. Michel
