I have put my bike in the shop numerous times. I just had the carbs cleaned and they told me I needed a new battery (which was fairly new.) I went and bought a brand new battery and the bike fell dead after about 45 minutes. What's going on with the charging system? I understand that bikes don't have alternators so what can I do?
Your katana does have an alternator on the rear of the motor
Hi there . frist i check battery voltage ie fullie charged shood be a bout 12.5 to 12.75 volts this is what a bike battery shood have when fullie charged .then start the bike up and check the battery voltage agen with the head light on high beam at idel it shood be sum were around 13 to 15 volts then bring the revs up to 5000 rpm and check the voltag agen shood be above 13 volts no higher then 15 volts if this is wat you getting at the battery you need to check haw manny amps it is charging ie need a ampe meter for this it shood be putting in at least 1.5 to 2 positive amps to the battery if not the reg-rec of stator cood be faulty or a bad earth . the problem is you need the right tools for this sort of job . and alot of bike shops dont have them . try cleaning the eath temanls top and bottom check all connectors . a lot of the time it is just a bad conection
