Engine noise I have an engine noise like a rattle in head sounds like is this normal. honda xr 125l 04. thanks

Sounds like a short like the insulation on wire rubbed off. Could also be a loose connection on either the hot or ground side of light circuit. This would blow a fuse.

me id start by looking real close at the wires to and from the head and tail lamps and handle switches , then id go farther at looking inside the head and tail lamp housings for say water or a rusty or damaged wire , finnaly arriving at looking at the battery voltage with a voltmeter when im reving engine this shouldn't go over say 12.8 volts if it does your voltage regulator is defective and is damaging all your bulbs

Undo the 17mm bolt in the middle of the engine on the underside, catch the old oil in a clean container, check the condition of the crush washer on the drain plug, replace if ness, when all the oil has been drained replace the drain plug and tighten adequatly, refill the engine using the correct oil.To the rite level
.start up the engine allow it to run for a few mins, then turn the ignition
To the off position, allow to settle hold bike in uprite postion and. Recheck the level as per handbook

Hello epsom...you really should purchase the shop manual so you could see the illustrations and the step by step procedures on how to align timing marks and properly gap your piston rings. Plus so much more info that you are going to need to do the job right. Plus the manual has the torque specs. and the sequence---There is not enough room here to give you all the info u will need. All Honda's make a rattle sound at idle. It goes away when you pull in the clutch lever or drive down the road. New or old , it is a normal sound for a Honda motorcycle. It did it when it was brand new and it will do it when it has 120,000 miles on it. Understand it, get used to it, any Honda rider will tell you there is no way to stop it . It is just a normal Honda sound.. Now go out and ride.

This is normal, it is the clutch plates rattling, when u apply pressure it holds the plates tight.
