Erratic Sputtering... Just got the bike - 2006 1100 Yamaha Silverado - on 4/30. Had 710 miles on it. It seems to be sputtering erratically. Sometimes I'll hear a sharp 'ping' - wondering if you have any information regarding this item. Thanks in advance!!!

This my be water in your fuel tank. Maybe it was there when you got it or it came in with the fuel. Drain all the fuel from your tank, both main and reserve and also your carborators. Then put fresh fuel in. This may solve your problem.

Three years with that few miles sounds like a good candidate for bad gas. I would start by taking the carb off and cleaning it really well with carb cleaner.

Run some carb cleaner through the tank. "Seafoam" has a real following. It could be that the jets are crudded up, especially if your bike sat some over the winter.

It could be a spark plug, plug wire, or a coil. Sometimes thay break down intermittently. If it needs a tuneup, that would be the first thing to do.

The dealer is not interested.
The bike is set up very lean to meet emissions standards. Any of them will benefit from larger jets. It's probably running too lean.
