SOURCE: Can select 1st gear and 2nd gear but am unable to

The gearbox does not need to be relpaced. The bike has a bent shift fork. The engine comes out then gets a complete tear down to get to the bad fork. This will probably cost $1200 or so. Call a dealer and get an estimate. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

Hard changing and selecting gears on my Subaru impreza is it my clutch

Sounds very much like it - not sure if it is a hydraulically operated clutch or cable... Check the fluid level if hydraulic
There may be some adjustment that can be made if it is cable operated

Problems selecting 1st gear peugeot 106 1.1 zest

If the clutch is a problem you will have difficulty selecting 1st only as the gears would be spinning from the engine revs.. I would say that the front input shaft (clutch shaft) bearing is failing allowing miss alignment of the synchros and not allowing proper engagement of the gears synchro rings. It means removal and repair to the gear box so the clutch can be inspected while the box is out.

I have just refurbished a 1976 Bmw R600/6 which has been stored for over 20 years. Once i got it running i found i could only select 3 gears i believe the missing ones are 1st and 5th. Is this a common...

hey shane my recommendation is to replace the gears 1st and 5th and not to my knowledge is that a common problem to break gears like that you have to shift hard with out clutch ( power shifting )

2002 YZ250 1ST GEAR PROBLEM ?? WILL NOT SELECT 1ST FROM THE OFF YOU HAVE TO TAKE OFF IN 2ND BUT ONCE RIDING WILL DROP DOWN IN TO 1ST

Maybe not your answer but.If the bike has sat around for a while, the clutch plates can stick together. Not all,but some. This makes gear selection hard and as you describe, once things warm up,it gets better. When I said about sitting around,I meant for a period of a few months or so at one time.Hope this helps

Trouble changing gears 1st and 2nd

If the clutch feels firm with no play u may have worn syncronizer's in the trans, take it to trans shop and have them road test it, they will not charge in most cases.

The gear stick has no resistance, I can only select two gears and it feels like Im stirring porridge when I do try and select a gear.

i'm unfamilar with the exact car but it sounds like part of your gear selection linkage is broken. This would be the part that is used to select the gears you can't select. I have seen some cars that use two cables, one for 1st and 2nd gear and the second for 3rd and 4th gear. I have also seen cars that use metal rods from the shifter to the transmission much like the cable setup, one rod for 1st and 2nd gear and the other rod for 3th and 4th gear.

Hope this in some way helps.
