Question about BMW Motorcycles
I have a bmw 1100 RT. I changed the battery in one of the key fobs. I cannot get it to start the bike now. Is there an reset sequence I need to do. The other fob still works.

Hi, Anonymous for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. SOURCE: Hello, My 1999 BMW RT 1100
depends. if anything that loose is not so good.but some brake are design to have something loose.u can check your brake sometime there is a bolt holding your brake calliper ,cover /wrapped with a small rubber tube or washer.because some brakes there is a gap and allow your brake calliper to move a little when it brake for full brake performance.

the battery is not your problem . it sound more like the starter motor giving you grief or alternator or regulator .
The electronic system on these are Bosch which are very sensitive to fluctuations of power .
Now when your starter draw power it really sucks power out of your battery and hopefully you have enough for the rest of the appliances .
the hard line of all this is that the battery may look good and hold the charge for a while but once the starter motor draw power to start the bike , you have very little power left to service the rest of power needed for the electronics . Make sure the alternator give you enough charge , test it while running , it should give you between 13.5 V to 14.8 V output or see if you accelerate the bike the headlight becomes brighter . If the light stays dole or dimms while giving a bit of gas , your alternator or regulator has a problem and will have to be tested and replaced .
have a look at all this and let me know how you go

Sounds like alarm has been set off,all the bells an whistles have stopped now it's in anti theft mode.Try disconnecting neg.wire on battery for a couple minutes and then reconnect.Alarm should go off.Take fob an shut alarm off like normal and that should do it.

I have just today had the same prob when I briefly disconnected the battery to clean the terminals. When I connected the battery again the flahers went off but not the siren, couldn,t get the flashers to stop unless I disconnected one terminal on the battery but even then I could hear the alarm ticking.Tried he solution already suggested to you but as soon as I touched the turn switch the siren sounded. Silenced this by pressing the fob & that seemed to reset the system. At least it,s silent now & nothings flashing.Trouble is my battery is now pretty flat so difficult to know if the prob is actually cured. Hope this helps. Nothing to lose by giving it a go.If you find out more would you let me know. Thnx. Barry

you have to pussh the left button for one second and then again for 15 seconds (according to the manual, for me this is not working), maybe for you it will do the trick
