It is common when ISP are updating thier spyware, malware and spam filters certain emails or domains get flagged. There was a lot of Spam that was flowing from .ru domains at one point. It doesn't mean all is bad it's just the filter system as it follows the path of the problem. Because your email address is generic @mail.ru it can be a great use for hiding spam. Its more than likely it will clear once the source of the problem is tracked down. Last point can also be when a mail server is getting work done. It is shut down as upgrades are down. This produces bounced mail as well. Good Luck

I can't recieve my yahoo email on my mac

If you still can't send Yahoo! Mail from your email program, you might be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port. If this is the case, try using port 587 when sending email via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. To make this change:

From the Tools menu, select Account Settings. The Account Settings dialog box appears.
Select your Yahoo! Mail Plus account and click Properties. The Change E-mail Account dialog box appears.
Click More Settings. The Internet E-mail Settings dialog box appears.
Click the Advanced tab.
In the Outgoing Server (SMTP) box, type 587.
Click Apply, and then click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
Click Close to close the Account Settings dialog box.

I am tying to set up yahoo account on thunderbird. i can send email but not receive.. i have tried changing server settings and port settings

Much more common is a sending issue. Often you have to send through your ISP server, contact them for what that server is, if you have sending issues.

I found directions for Outlook, which should be similar to Thunderbird:

Look closely at requires authentication settings....

Note: You must be a Yahoo! Mail Plus user to read Yahoo! Mail in an email reader program such as Microsoft Outlook. Click here for information about subscribing to Yahoo! Mail Plus.
To read your Yahoo! Mail Plus using Microsoft Outlook 2002 or 2003, follow these steps:
  1. From the Tools menu, select Email Accounts.
  2. Select Add a new email account and click Next.
  3. Select POP3 and click Next.
  4. Enter the following information:
    • User Information

Your Name: Type your name as you'd like it to appear when you send an email message.

E-Mail Address: Type your Yahoo! Mail Plus email address (for example, [email protected]).
    • Server Information

Incoming mail server (POP3): Type plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com.

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Type plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com.
    • Login Information

User Name: Type your Yahoo! ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com").

      Password: Type your Yahoo! password.
    • Select the Remember Password checkbox if you don't want Outlook to prompt you for your password each time you check your mail.
    • Do not select the Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) checkbox.
  5. Click More Settings. The Internet E-mail Settings dialog box appears.
  6. Select the Outgoing Server tab:
    • Select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox.
    • Make sure that Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
  7. Click the Advanced tab:
    • Under Incoming Server (POP3), select the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) checkbox. The number in the Incoming Server (POP3) field usually changes automatically from 110 to 995. If it doesn't, type 995.
    • In the Outgoing Server (SMTP) field, type 465. Under Outgoing Server (SMTP), select the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) checkbox.
    • If you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on both the Yahoo! Mail server and on your computer, select the Leave a copy of messages on the server checkbox. If you want your messages to be deleted from the Yahoo! server once Outlook has downloaded them onto your computer, leave the box unchecked.

Note: After your messages are deleted from the server, we cannot retrieve them.
  8. Click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
  9. Click Finish to close the Add New E-mail Account dialog box.
  10. Click Close to close the Account Settings dialog box.

I cant send and reply or forward any massage from my yahoo account

The question is how do you access your e-mail? There are two ways of accessing the e-mail. First is via the Web browser where you need to open your Internet browser and then type your user name and password.

The other one is via an e-mail client like Outlook 2003, 2007 or Outlook Express.

If you're accessing your e-mail via the Web browser, try optimizing the internet browser by deleting the Cookies and Temporary Internet Files.

Here's how to delete the Cookies and Temporary Internet Files for IE7 and later versions:

1. Run your IE > Tools menu.
2. Internet Options > click on 'Delete' under the Browsing History option.
3. Click the Delete buttons for Cookies, Internet Files
4. OK > Close and re-open your IE and try accessing your e-mail again.

But if you're accessing your e-mail via an e-mail client (Outlook 2007), all you have to do is to change the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) port number and you should be able to send e-mails out.

Here's how:

1. Run your Outlook > Tools > Account Settings.
2. Double-click on your e-mail account.
3. Click on More Settings button > Advanced tab
4. Change the Outgoing Mail SMTP port number. If your Outgoing port is set to 25, you may change it to 2525 or 587 or 465 (SSL)
5. OK > Close and re-open your Outlook.
6. Try sending e-mail.

Good luck and have a great day!

When I try to send e'mails it comes back saying there is suspicious activity. Started yesterday am, still not working. First time I have had a problem. Its thru Yahoo

Hi,

About your problem:

Usually YA issues this message when your e-mail account may have been hijacked and used for spamming. To find the spamming source and to make sure that it isn't you causing this, Yahoo has to temporarily shut down your mail account. During the suspension, you have access to all email in your inbox, personal folders and sent folder, and to your mail options. You will not be able to send or receive mail or save any drafts. Email sent to your account will bounce back to the sender.

Other probable causes

#1: Somebody may have tried to enter your account without being authorized, and he may have tried to do so a couple of times. After a couple of failed attempts to open your mail account, Yahoo also temporarily shuts it down for security measures. In some cases a user may not even try to get into your account, but he may want to cause trouble for you - he just knows that after a couple of seemingly unauthorized attempts to enter your account, Yahoo shuts it down for a couple of days. Often an automated program is used for this which can send more than 1000 requests a minute. The Yahoo servers detect that a human can't be behind such attempts and presto, the account is shut down.

What you can do is go to: http://login.yahoo.com/config/login . After your first try you'll probably get a failure message, but when you try again, you'll see a captcha link. Only real life people could handle this correctly, spambots can't read it. If you are lucky, you may be able to enter your account at this point.

#2: If you send large amounts of mail, even if it is for non-profit organizations, Yahoo may close your account temporarely because their program can't tell the difference between a supposed spammer and a real one.

Summary: if the login hack doesn't work, wait a little, a suspension usually lasts about 48 hrs. If you then still can't get in, go to this online help form and describe your problem:
http://help.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/mail/…
You could also send a mail to e-mail support:
[email protected]
or
[email protected]
or call Yahoo! Customer Service: 1-408-349-1572

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

How does skype change my password without my permission

With a username and an e-mail address, you can send a request for a new password to Skype.
To receive the password, make sure your SPAM settings are right.

Also make sure the e-mail address you signed up with, is still in use.

Though if you don’t remember your username and e-mail address anymore, below are listed some suggestion to help you to remember and/or retrieve them.

1) Username / e-mail address: Enter Skype in browser or Explorer address bar. Double click user folder, double click, or open (with Notepad), profile 256 or 4096. Email address and user name should be there.

2) Username: do a Skype search for your own username and fill in as much as possible
details. Sometimes you have to do more search options then one.

3) Username: send one of your contacts of whom you also know an e-mail address, a request
to look for your username in his/her contact list.

4) Password: in case you´re using the Firefox browser and have ticked "save passwords" in
"preferences" ... it´s there.

5) When all this isn’t of any help, there is a final solution: if you have a paid service with
Skype, Skype Staff can retrieve your user name / e-mail address but needs billing details
like part of your Credit card number, PayPal account info you need to send a support request from here http://support.skype.com/?_a=tickets&_m=submit
