Will not rev over 8000 rpm

Someone help me! I have an 86 gsxr 750 slingshot. Love the bike but it will not rev over 8000 rpm no matter what you do. The bike runs perfect except when trying to take off fast. It gets to the same rpm everytime and cuts right out. Its almost like a rev limiter. But like I said it runs perfect other than at high rpm. HELP!!!

By the way, it will rev past that sitting still, just not under load!!! HELP

Changed all the ignition system with factory. Brand new battery. Valves are relatively quiet. Thanks though.

This is hard to tell without riding it to feel the condition. Here are a few things that come to my mind.

1 Spark plugs or ignition system not able to handle the higher demands of the higher RPMs

2 battery or charging system not creating enough power to meet the higher demands of the bike (ignition and fuel systems)

3 Fuel flow to the carbs is low or the main jet is clogged.

4 valve adjustment and or valve timing

Do you have any add ons, air shifter, lights, hydrolics? if so those modules may be bad causing them to short out under heavier loads.

If is runs better with full choke, then the bike is lean, check for air leaks at the carb manifold, vacumn cracked hoses, non standard exhausts, perhaps the mufflers have rusted out while sitting

My GSXR 750 J runs extreemly rough between 7000 and 9000 rpm. Its a mildly tuned engine with after market cams, a dynojet kit and I recently installed some inline fuel filters. The bike runs perfectly...

I would check and adjust the static ignition timing as if too far retarded it will tend to misfire at mid range revs. and suffer from lack of power at the top end.

Suzuki gsxr Carbs Loading up?

check your spark plug if it burns ok. if it burns white its ok, also clean your carburator and the air cleaner after that start the engine again. if it does not change the problem is youre cdi unit.

GSXR 750 Slingshot wont rev past 5000rpm, with or without choke

I have seen this before a few things to do too make sure. First take the air filter out and shine a light use your fingers to move the slides up and down I suspect the springs that go on the slide is not seated in center you can tell from the slide going halfway and hanging up. Next, the boots on the slides only go on 1 way there is a notch on the carbs for them. I would guess this would fix you up if not we can get deeper into it with air-fuel mix screw settings.good luck

Will another rear shock fit my 1989 gsxr 750 slingshot.

Have a look on the Hagon site, take a note of the part number and try eBay, breakers etc for a replacement. Good Luck !
